Promote and relegate on ability/performance. There are not that many JSL divisions.
agree and then there is only one League to administer not two separate competitions.
Just make the ruling so that no club can have two teams in the same division.
Just call it SA Junior League A, B, C, D, etc
All the negative connotations associated with JSL will disappear and kids will try to play well and get their teams promoted each season.
They and their parents will stop worrying about whether their in the clubs A team which is probably stacked with coaches sons, teams managers sons, sponsors son, etc

I agree with what you are saying...however with the Playford U14 B pool....at already -36 in goal difference after two games, and one loss was against Comets (20:0) who just managed to defeat West Adelaide 1:0, I'd be saying maybe they should go down as 22 rounds at a potential losing average of 18 is over -300 goal difference. But then you'd think the opposition coaches would at say 8 up be looking at trying different stuff. ....5 or 7 passes before going into the forward half....working on non dominant side. As stated last year and this year we shouldn't be seeing scores like this at this age or above.
Just looked at that table and indeed it appears they are struggling. However, at this stage it could just be that those 2 clubs are the strongest in the league and will defeat all teams easily. I think that theory will be proved completely wrong and indeed they should move to the C division, but I'd still give it until end of round 4.
GIAE.....well its the third game for Playford in the U14s....they now sit at a goal difference of -50....that would be starting to hurt within the team....i dont believe they have the numbers.... not good for the kids.

Even after 3 or 4 games there is a massive amount of goals being conceded in the JPL structure. The goal differences below are from the bottom placed teams in respective leagues:
U12 JPL Red GD -39
U12 JPL Yellow GD -48
U13 JPL A GD -27
U13 JPL B GD -40
U13 JPL C GD -35
U14 JPL B GD -50

Those clubs conceding 15 goals a game should be in contact with the FFSA and asking that they be moved to the JSL. I know it is a good life lesson for the kids but week in, week out, for 20 games is too much. The kids will be put off the game for life.
Unfortunately the majority of junior parents think their kids play for sheep stations every Sunday morning & its all about winning so they (the parents) go club hopping every year to find a suitable JPL super junior coach who also likes adding sheep stations to his coaching resume, thus you have these huge score lines.
What might help to stop this from continually happening year after year ?
Don`t play for points, don`t have tables, don`t publish results & don`t have promotion or relegation & have all junior clubs grouped into local zones playing each other where players/kids can play with no fear of results or relegation & coaches can coach, teach & develop with no fear of having to win at all cost.
Points & tables can then be introduced starting from U16`s, preparing players for senior football.
Parents then wont be tempted as much to club hop as tables & results wont matter as much & junior super coaches might focus on what they are actually there to do & that`s to coach, develop & prepare junior footballers in readiness to have success at senior football.
Worth thinking about, might help, but probably wont happen.

The reason for relegation/promotion is to align teams based on ability/performance to avoid the issue of uneven competitions and huge winning margins.
Maybe don't publish tables but FFSA use the results of games to align the competitions properly.

Playford lost 15-0 against 2nd bottom Cobras last night. That's 67 goals conceded in four games.
Looks like playford u14s goalkeeper is getting a good workout picking the ball out of the net.
This week More or less every 4 minutes on average the opposition is scoring.'

lay off boys for various reasons Playfords u/14 not up to scratch this season but there is a group of young boys giving they best every week against the odds to do there best, better they try than no team at all and yes the club has already asked for the team to be moved to another league

the dig was at the FFSA because they take an age to put things right

As soon as trials are over the coaches know whether their team will struggle. Some teams lose 5-6 of their best players and all of a sudden they are totally noncompetitive. It's convincing the president of the club that's the hard thing. They'd rather be cut adrift at the foot of the table than request to be in a lower division. They preach that it's about development but it's all about their ego.
Teams getting smashed week in and out should be moved by FFSA as a matter of course. Mid season review by FFSA would be worth while to stop teams getting continually pumped and players giving it away.
That's just wrong
If the club has asked to be dropped down and the ffsa hasn't done anything then they need to have their head read
If the club has not done anything then they need to have their head read.
What chance is it that those kids are enjoying playing football and next year will probably give it up.
Wait till the cold weather sets in and rainy Sunday mornings, what incentive does a kid have getting out of a warm house to go and get a result like that.
Judging by the Playford team last night (I could be wrong) most of them didn't look old enough to play Under 14's and I suspect a few came from the Under 12's game before hand. Interestingly though they are a spirited bunch and in the right age group/technique level they could develop into a good team.
We tried to be as respectful as possible, kept our stronger players on the bench for a fair part of the game and played a fair few out of position but on a cold Wednesday night 45 minutes drive from home with an 8pm kick-off players had to play (including the keeper - I never usually let him play out if we are winning but had no option really after he had three touches in the first half all from long range back passes)...whilst I feel sorry for them getting belted every game, we didn't have to get out of first gear so it's difficult for the stronger opposition too particularly when we are missing training to play the game and it all feels like a waste of time. Difficult for all and nobody wins...
Olympic (Vista) Bhoy wrote:Last night's 14 JBL B result. Playford 0 Olympic 20. Not good for either team. Although Olympic's goalkeeper got a run out on the field and scored 2.
that is correct but at least they only played in the C division.
It really didn't work going through the season like that as this year they don't have a 15's
best solution would be put the team in the C division eliminating the bye or put them in a JSL group, they may get beat but the scores could be a little better and give the kids some confidence.
The strikers for playford wouldn't be getting much experience.
OMG!!! Just seen that Playford U14s are playing Modbury Vista......of all teams to meet....it's like deja vu for Strikers last year being dropped into the hardest JSL U13 pool!!!
You'd think the FFSA would have had a bit of a think about it......so Playford move to a lower division to meet the top team!!!! Brilliant for Playford's morale NOT!!!!
