Been thinking alot about this and personally i think the league structure should be based on a Youth Program structure implemented by the FFSA:

A Division Clubs (category 1 clubs):
A Licensed Football Director
B Licensed Junior Technical Director
C Licensed Junior Coaches

Minimum team requirements: U6 | U7 | U8 | U9 | U10 | U11 | U12 | U14 | U16

B Division Clubs (category 2 clubs):
B Licensed Football Director
C Licensed Junior Technical Director
C Licensed Junior Coaches

Minimum team requirements: U6 | U7 | U8 | U9 | U10 | U11 | U12 | U14 | U16

C Division Clubs (category 3 clubs):
C Licensed Football Director
C Licensed Junior Technical Director
Game Training Certificate Coaches

No Minimum team requirements.

This puts an emphasis on clubs upskilling their coaches and improving the standards being delivered. Maybe less spent on purchasing NPL players and more on a coach to develop the kids spending $500 to $1500 a season for development. Takes on field results off the table, and allows clubs to be judged on their Football programs.

That's not necessarily the case. When you look at Cup games you have JPL A teams winning by a narrow margin over JPL C ones. I would think the bigger concern for them would be players (or more to the point Parents) wishing to leave.

Just awaiting confirming of bottom 4 next week in the NPL and then they know the parameters .

So its ok if Modbury, Para Hills, White City and Pirates are in the bottom 4?

They can go down a division, but not if its Raiders? Is that the understanding of those in the know?

Modbury, Pirates and Para Hills have some of the strongest Juniors. That makes no sense pushing their Juniors down IMO.

It makes a mockery of the whole competition that it is discussed in this manner.

And NO I'm not from one of the those bottom clubs.
Out of curiosity what are making that judgement on? League Positions of their junior teams? style of play? players they're producing?
Quality of players, ability/quality/style of play, skilfulness - their positions on the ladder and success in cup comps tend to reflect that quality as well.

I agree the junior structure should be based on the set up of a clubs junior program.

The league should be based on a criteria of quality programs, so the best junior programs play Against each other

Clubs can move into the the next level when they have established a program that meets jpl A criteria.

Then we reward the clubs that are focussed in quality programs.

And this should be from under 8 upwards

Just have a fixture list and get rid of tables and results being displayed on the website. You will soon see kids enjoying themselves rather than the "win at all costs" mentality.

Even when you play without keeping score, ask the kids - they always know.

And they know who scored and how many - even in games played when training.

Depends on the age group, and the parents.

When I coached U6 - U9 (about 10 years ago), yes the kids on our team knew who scored. Though they never really cared who won or lost (that came later), they just laughed and talked about the game - who did what, a specific kick, a run, a fall, a muddy hole, etc.

Most of those kids are still playing, a third are in senior squads.

Let the kids play, let them make the decisions. At least until they get to the U10's. Half the fun for them is just playing and kicking the ball, not who is on top. Who wins and who's on top at U6 - U9's is an adults' preconception.

Kids will always want to win, nobody wants to lose.
Kids wanting to win at all costs isn't a problem, adults wanting to win kids games at all costs is the problem.

So is the new structure now going to be implemented in 2017?

Junior JPL teams following their senior JPL teams?

If Hawks drop to State League 2 it won't happen either
