Over age players ??
This might be of interest to those who followed a thread last year about how some juniors, often of African descent look older than their age group. Obviously a global issue

catches up though around U15 U16's ... saw a boy of the relevant background the other day, had always been big and tall (which obviously assisted him performance wise) in comparison to most of the other boys .. barely recognised him as most of the other non relevant background boys had caught up or passed him height wise..

There is no way that player looks 17 !!!
Re: Over age players ??
in a lot of countries they given an age dependent on their level of education. this normally sits with 2-3 years of their actual age. If they make elite squads, they get bone tested. Its not a big deal, like mentioned, the physical advantage might provide them with advantages in young age levels on the pitch, but by 16-17, it has all equaled out.N5 1BH wrote:This might be of interest to those who followed a thread last year about how some juniors, often of African descent look older than their age group. Really ? Now that’s a big call. Personally I don’t believe there is any correlation between race and propensity to cheat, but each to their own. Both Joseph Minala and Lazio have insisted that he is 17 years old and that is what he is until proven otherwise.
I thought it brought into perspective the difficulties with identifying 14 -16 year olds in suburban Adelaide football when a professional European football league has issues with deciding whether a player is 17 or 41 years old.
Hey if he turns out to be 41 and he’s tricked his way into a professional football club as a 17 year old good on him, who dares wins and all that. Like that kids film with Vinnie Jones ‘She’s The Man’.

Re: Over age players ??
I think it highlights the fall from grace of the Italian Serie A... if a 41 year old is this important to one of it's clubs then what does it say about the quality of the Lazio squad?!?! Should normally retire by 35ish, or at least be winding down to the subs role.
