Adelaide University 2014 Under 14 Boys Trials

The Adelaide University Soccer Club has its roots in North Adelaide and we have initiated trials to re-start a junior boys’ team again at The University Ovals, Park 10, Mackinnon Parade.

Trial: Sunday 27th October 9.30am sign in, 10am-11.30am at The University Ovals, Mackinnon Parade, North Adelaide.

The background: Sir Mellis Napier (AU Law grad 1902) and his brothers Leith and Norman were founders of the original SA League (now FFSA) and the North Adelaide BAFC, who won the inaugural league title with many University graduates, students and college residents playing for the team. They went on to win further Division 1 titles in 1906, 1914, 1919 and 1922 before disbanding in 1933- a pre-cursor to the University club beginning in 1935. Sir Mellis Napier became Chancellor of the University of Adelaide in 1948 and also the AUSC’s First Patron.

The University team, ‘The Blacks” had instant success in Division 2 winning promotion in 1937 to Division 1 and also winning the Pozza Cup that same year. Over the journey the University teams have had numerous successes and throughout the late 60’s - early 70’s. During this time, the AUSC ran a junior boys’ team of all North Adelaide kids which included Dom Rinaldo and Helmut Kopp. The team wore white tops with red numbers and made a Cup final in there last year together. They were known as the North Adelaide Colts.

After 40+ years and 10 years of successful junior girls’ teams, the AUSC is hoping to resurrect the North Adelaide Colts and re-establish the successful North Adelaide soccer heritage. We would love to invite you to be a part of it and help us make this a success.

Seems to be a few Amateur sides dabbling in FFSA Juniors in 2014?

With the way FFSA want to head (The Pathway) it seems strange they are accepting this....I am bemused????

The AUSC Under 14 Boys are training each Saturday until Christmas from 4-5pm and focusing on player development and skill acquisition.

If your kid/s are interested in joining the team (players born 2000, 2001 or later), get them to bring a friend and join in with these 'Come and Try' sessions.
