u14s Cumberland 1-0 Cove
I refereed this game and you dont see a lot of 1 nillers at this level but both teams were well drilled and focused on the football result.
tight first half with Cumberland pressing Coves defence with only really 1 great chance with a one on one with the keeper which the stiker pulled just outside the keepers near post
second half the game stretched to all areas of the park and cove matched cumberland in the midfieeld with not much time on the ball before being tackled.
Cumberland had a shout for a pen, but just a little boot on ball prior to the player going down(coaches hate soft pens...Im sure!!!) unless your given one!!
A couple of minutes later the cumberland striker was this time tripped up around the penalty spot and converted the penalty precisely(60mins)
Cove battled for an equaliser, with no reward and Cumberland could have snatched a second right at the death with a bobbling ball headed over from 2 yards out
Great game played in good spirits in front of a decent crowd, with just a yellow apiece for each side, one for dissent and the other for a frustrated swear word.... aimed at no one but himself...just rather loud!!!
good luck to both teams for the remainder of the season and if they both continue like that, success will not be far away,

thanks Bomber
Just a pleasure sometimes to just referee a game with no politics, no nastiness or poor sportsmanship
credit to both teams
good luck this week at Croydon
