State Talent Identification Championships

Post by johnydep »

It's that time of year again - STIC nominations.

The system was changed last year, and its continued to change this year. Most, including myself, had a good grasp of the idea behind the STIC tournament; identification of players for State teams.

However, last year saw the introduction of State and Development players forming teams that stayed together for the long term in a full squad. This meant that the selection of players from the STIC tournament went from a very high number of players being selected for some sort of representative squad to ......? I don't know.

Anyone know anymore information?

Below is all that the FFSA has sent out, besides a list of players not to be selected. We've asked for further info, so as to inform players and parents. But still waiting.

I know that it's a great opportunity for the kids. I just want to be able to tell them and their parents what that opportunity is, besides playing in a great tournament.

2013 FFSA State Talent Identification Championships

BOYS

Players that are currently registered with the Football Federation SA or Affiliated Junior Association shall be eligible to participate in the Championships.

Player’s eligibility for selection into a representative team is as follows:

Under 12 Born 2001
Under 13 Born 2000
Under 14 Born 1999

Nominations

(U12 - U14) Club coaches in cooperation with club officials are asked to submit a list of a maximum of
8 players for the U12’s and 6 for the U13 & 14 age groups.

(Goalkeepers) Goalkeepers do not need to nominated, as trials for U12 Goalkeepers have already been held and Goalkeepers currently involved in U13 and U14 Development squads will participate in STIC.

It is a requirement that the players nominated attend a minimum of 2 trials prior to selection. If a player is sick or injured at the time of the trials, the coach of the team should be contacted.

Only those players nominated by the club can be selected into the final squads, unless other wise approved by Football Federation SA.

Please note; U13 & U14 Skilleroos & Development Squad players won’t need to be nominated by their clubs
Players involved with the Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) also won’t need to be nominated

Please see the attached form to view the list of player’s that won’t need to be nominated by
their clubs.

The Final Squad Selections will be made by the representative team Coach and the approval of Football
Federation SA.

Junior Associations will be allowed to nominate their representative squad players for selection. This number must not exceed 20 players per age group. The names of those players must be submitted to the Football Federation SA.

If a player is nominated for a Junior Soccer Association as well as club in a particular zone the player must decide in which zone they will trial. No players can trial in two different zones.

Saw this a little while back and have assumed the Development/ shadow squads will be auto into the trials for their respective zones and hence only 6 others from each club nominated (U13 & 14) or is it that ( I know Skillaroos wont) the Dev/Shadow squads wont participate in the STIC programe as they have already been observed ???
