Modems
So, I've changed my Internet from Telstra to TPG
TPG recommended I buy their recommended modem but they want $99 for it....I obviously still have my Telstra Bigpond modem, but someone has suggested that it could be locked to telstra and I won't be able to use it with TPG.
Anyone know if this is the case?

Telstra Technicolor TG587n
I can't find anywhere about modems being locked either.
I got confirmation from TPG today that the Internet is connected, so I'll give it a try and see of it works...

Are you still on dial up speeds in your neck of the woods?
Everybody's got their own good reason why their favorite season is their favorite season

No, we've even upgraded from the 'two cans and a string' form of communicating too!Echo & The Bunnymen wrote:Are you still on dial up speeds in your neck of the woods?

Re: Modems
Can your old modem give you the speed you need from the TPG one? If you are upgrading your service you may need or want to pay the extra.
Re: Modems
After many conversations with TPG and Telstra and the local computer guy, apparently the modem is not 'locked' to Telstra as such, but will need reconfiguring and some 'inside workings' changed.
So off to buy a new modem.
Check the Buy and Sell forum for an 'almost new modem for use only with Telstra'
