Player payments across the WNPL

Post by billy the kid »

So, what are some of the payments on offer for various players across the women’s scene. No club or players names please. The reason for this is that some progressive clubs will start to target players and offer money.

Those clubs that pay ZERO to their players or very little had better get on board quick otherwise they will be priced out of existence.

It is something that is becoming quite prevalent amongst the prems and other teams in the women’s comp and I for one applaud it. This is despite clubs with a strong men’s/boys focus or representation on boards and committees vehemently opposing any payment (or very miniscule) to the women.

It is absurd that players aren’t already remunerated and there is such a disparity amongst clubs that are doing it. I’d say most of the prems clubs ARE offering some sought of payment either money or in kind. Whilst I believe loyalty is still the buzz word around the place, money does pay the bills. Many players have to pay club rego fees in the hundreds and on top of that travel by car and by equipment etc.
