The FFSA originally quoted 9 team divisions and and 18 rounds. I think they need a calculator.themagnet wrote:9 team leagues??? So will that be 16 or 24 games in a season??
They really should've tried to even it out so it's 8 an 10 teams per league.

Well, it is 18 rounds, but if 2 are a bye, it's only 16 gamesLucas Leiva wrote:The FFSA originally quoted 9 team divisions and and 18 rounds. I think they need a calculator.themagnet wrote:9 team leagues??? So will that be 16 or 24 games in a season??

Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
My team was in a 9 team division last year and after two forfeits against us (plus the two byes) we ended up playing 14 matches for the season, which is hardly a season. a 10 team division with 18 matches or 8 team division with 21 rounds is the only way to go.themagnet wrote:Well, it is 18 rounds, but if 2 are a bye, it's only 16 gamesLucas Leiva wrote:The FFSA originally quoted 9 team divisions and and 18 rounds. I have no love for the FFSA at the moment, but to be fair; there looks to be no other option than what they have come up with. There is not enough teams in the whole system.themagnet wrote:9 team leagues??? So will that be 16 or 24 games in a season??

How would you configure the leagues?

I would have tried to get the top few leagues filled first, most likely as 10 team leagues, and work from there.johnydep wrote:I have no love for the FFA at the moment, but to be fair; there looks to be no other option than what they have come up with. There's one team in the Collegiate league that doesn't exactly fit the criteria that could have moved across. That would make Div 1,2 and 3 a 10 team comp, Div 4 an 8 team comp, and the Collegiate league as the only comp at 9 teams.
Of course that doesn't take into account club requests etc, but from what I've heard, FFSA haven't either.

I'm glad you added that last part.themagnet wrote:I would have tried to get the top few leagues filled first, most likely as 10 team leagues, and work from there.johnydep wrote:I have no love for the FFSA at the moment, but to be fair; there looks to be no other option than what they have come up with. Being involved with the men's/boys league, I know that our club always looks at the strength of teams and confide with the coach about the team and the best league. After all, there's no gain or fun for anyone having a team in a league that gets double digit goals scored against it.
End of the day, unless there is info otherwise, the number of teams does not allow for 10 team leagues.
The Women's league needs to grow, this will take a long time due to many reasons. Not all are the FFSA, though they do themselves no favours.
Some things that I've seen that need attention:
Better quality of games needed to attract and keep players, at all levels (though, I have seen improvement in recent years and pitch conditions do not help).
Increased support and funding; females make up 51% of the population, yet they receive a tiny percentage of media coverage, government funding and sponsorship dollars.
Unity. Instead of complaining, all involved in women's football should be united with one voice.
There's more, but I think I've said enough.

Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
Well, I know of at least one club that requested to be placed in div 3 instead of div 2 on the same basis you say your club uses. This request was not satisfied, yet both divisions have uneven numbers. One move would've solved some of the numbers issues, and a club would be happy.Being involved with the men's/boys league, I know that our club always looks at the strength of teams and confide with the coach about the team and the best league. Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
There's one other factor that hasn't been mentioned, and that is the length of the season- Prems/reserves season started Sunday and they play 21 games. Given that most clubs wanted the season to finish before cup final, and that the social/junior comps don't start until April, this may have been a factor in the arrangement of the divisions. You couldn't start in April and play a 21 game season and finish before cup final. Just sayin.
Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
Is there promotion/relegation within the junior divisions? i.e from one coloured group to the other.
The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
I don't see that as a good enough reason TBH. It's only 4 teams out of 57 that will be affected by that.juniorsupporter wrote:There's one other factor that hasn't been mentioned, and that is the length of the season- Prems/reserves season started Sunday and they play 21 games. Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
Magnet, if there is an 8 team division , and they play 21 rounds, I would imagine that all 8 would have rounds to play after cup final. In spite of clubs expressing preference, in the end of year meeting, for all league games to be played before the cup final. And there are 47 teams, not 57.

Draft fixtures have been sent out to clubs apparently. I would look at the FFSA Calendar and it will tell you exactly when you startbrushmancity wrote:So when do the fixtures come out and when does div 3 women start?????????????????????????????????????? :?

Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
would hope to see juniors play everyone three times.
more games gives the girls more time to develop on the pitch
could have teams play a round at night at burton etc for something different
14 games is way to short for a season!

Re: 2013 Lower Leagues + Juniors
Additionally I remember a few yrs ago the ffsa released a schedule right until cup final weekend and the last2/3 rounds had to organised but the clubs to be competed before the cup. It worked well from memory as well
