Round 6 Prems/Res

Post by Easy Tiger »

Very exciting games this week, especially Fulham-Metro! Fulham have been winning and looking very strong...Metro need a win to gain top of the league (counting the game in hand with C'town)! Fulham also need a result to maintain their leadership.

Campbelltown City vs Adelaide City
Cumberland United vs Adelaide Olympic
Fulham United vs MUWFC Magic
Sturt Marion (Bye)

And there's also the game of the month! I saw this on the FFSA website but thought the game was in a different place. Can anyone confirm time and place of game of the month? Hope to see plenty of people supporting women's football out there!

Women’s Premier Division
Cumberland United vs Adelaide Olympic
3pm – Sunday 9 May
Women's Memorial Playing Fields, Cnr Shepherds Hill Rd & Ayliffes Rd,

In fixtures booklet the Game of the Month is listed as Cumberland v Sturt Marion, May 14th at Marden. Don't know if it's been changed or if someone at FFSA just got it wrong.

On the homepage of the ffsa there's an ad about the game between Cumberland and Olympic this Sunday. Don't know why they advertise this particular game (if anything the Fulham-Metro game is the most important this week!) but it's definitely not the game of the month! They are just promoting a game.

Game of the Month:

Marden Sports Complex, Lower Portrush Road, MARDEN
May 14, 2010
Cumberland United vs Sturt Marion 8:00pm
Elizabeth Downs vs Gawler 6:00pm

Fulham pumped Metro 3-0.
If they play like that they are going to win the league.
Fulham the team to beat at this stage IMO.
All the others a step behind.

Also, I heard C'town lost to A.City 0-16. No postponements this week.
Hope they can get themselves back together after such a loss...

Fulham Metro was 3-1. Metro scored in the last minute of the game.
It was a great tussle by both teams.

I heard it was 6-0 but either way Olympic killed Cumby

I think its a bit early to be making calls on teams to beat. One round almost done, two still to go. Everyone wrote Fulham off at the start of the year so its really funny how things can change. Race is still open for all top 4 teams to do anything this season.

City can jump to top next week if they beat Metro. Will be a good contest

I just say what I think and heard many ppl agreeing too.

Fulham: no defeats and 1st in the ladder.
Not saying that they will win for sure, but IMO they are the team to beat.

Olympic: on paper could be the best. Can they top Fulham?

Official results from yesterday:

PREMS
Campbelltown City 0:16 Adelaide City
Cumberland United 0:7 Adelaide Olympic
Fulham United 3:1 MUWFC Magic

RESERVES
Campbelltown City 0:12 Adelaide City
Cumberland United 0:1 Adelaide Olympic
Fulham United 2:13 MUWFC Magic

What happened in the Prems???
I wouldn't expect Cumby and Campbelltown to get bashed this much, even if Olympic and AC are good. Honestly, I also thought Metro wouldn't lose like that at Fulham. I heard Fulham totally dominated though and could win more that that, but didn't see the game. If they totally dominated Metro they must have played a spectacular game!

well from someone who actually played in the game Fulham vs Metro I would have to say that early on it was all Metro. Fulham got a goal after about 25 or 30 mins n seemed to just go on with it from there. Metro werent without their chances tho.

Fulham will only stay top if City lose to Metro or City and Metro draw on the weekend as Fulham are the only team to have not had the bye yet.

Lol at 'best team on paper' comments. I dont believe there is such a thing. Names dont win u matches....good team performances do. Best team on paper often doesnt win league or cup and is often just a name given to a team with a lot of potential but doesnt always deliver...or peaks too early. I predict we will again see this this year. Team spirit and close team bond wins leagues n cups as they convert the certain draw into a last minute win. Watch out for those teams

Don't know about the Campbeltown game, but I'm glad Cumby score wasn't that bad (bad enough though!).
I have my opinions about what happened in the Cumby game, but that conversation is not for outside the club - all I will say on here is there was 15-20 minutes of madness late in the game and lessons have & will be learned from it...

It will be interesting to see how Fulham will go if they cop some injury's as their reserves seem to be struggling. They might have to turn to their U17s, some good young players in that side.

Isn't the same with all clubs? Maybe Metro and Olympic have older reserves but all other teams are really young. Fulham, Cumby, C'town, City and Sturt are all baby teams! So basically it's like a junior league, but even in the Prems some sides are very young.

2010 is the 40th year of Fulham United. We are wearing our heritage strips from the year Fulham were first in the comp so its not a copy of city's strip. The womens and mens teams are wearing the same design of strip....dont worry....we actually have an away strip to wear against city...unlike some
