What Now for the Lady Reds ?

Post by Worthless Gobemouche »

With RA signing on to be Assistant Coach at Brisbane Roar with his brother John, where does that now leave our Womens team ?

Does anyone have any thoughts on who from our local leagues can take on the role ?

You need a A license for starters.

Given history, I doubt FFSA will look at any of the local Women's Premier League coaches, so the replacement will either come from the local men's or outside of SA.

The clock is already ticking. It's august and the team needs to be totally rebuilt from last year and all the while, our best local talent is looking for greener pastures interstate.

The circus never ends.

As stakeholders, supporters, players, officials and coaches, are we partially to blame ? Do we expect too much from a sport where we are not the #1 female sport ( 100,000 v Netballs conservative 350,000 ) and although ranked highly on a world scale, cant be considered #1 like the Diamonds.

For many years we've been able to provide our national teams with squad members. I don't subscribe to the theory that it's the management ( in this case the FFSA ) that is slowly and steadily ruining our only national level womens side. We continue to develop high level and technical players at junior level and performances at the NTC comps have been very good over the last few years.

Is the answer more high level Women coaches ? How long do we have to wait for one to appear ? Do we have to look further afield, spend a bit of coin and get a 'Marquee' female coach with enough experience to take on whats been created and develop ?

We can't continue this boom / bust mentality.

There is no one in the local league fit for this roll! Even the coach with the A licence is an absolute joke!

Plenty of bust, but where is the boom???

Reality is, Worthless Gobemouche, that we, Stakeholders, supporters, players, officials and coaches have no say in how the game is structured and run and as such, the blow torch should be placed on the 'decision makers'.

We are essentially dictated to, and once a year clubs get the 'opportunity' to provide feedback. Not voting rights, but feedback which often goes in one ear, and out the other.

Uruguay has won World Cup's and Copa America's with populations smaller than Sydney and without great wealth. I don't think size matters if you have the right structure, people, ambition and football culture.

Would love to see a Women's coach take up the role. One with international experience would be ideal.

Great news for Chidiac, but doom and gloom for Lady Reds. We can't even keep our best local talent, let alone look to recruit a core of experienced quality players to build our own players around.

Not surprised though given, the vacuum left by Ross's absence. Who is talking to our players now we have no coach, enticing them to stay, selling the project????

Why wasn't Chidiac and other key local talent signed up to longer term contracts??? We develop these players only to see them walk uncontracted with no compensation.

Has Rojas from Uni been signed, or will we lose her as well to interstate as well??

6 years on from the lady reds first starting, an hundreds of thousands spent, where are we at???
