Sturt v West Adelaide

Post by gunners01 »

I was fortunate to watch Sturt V West Adelaide at Cove today a great football game, a very physical game but was sad to see the abusive behaviour by the West Adelaide Coach, Trainer and parents towards Sturt players. This behaviour should not be tolerated in our girls league, FFSA you need to have harsher penalties for this behaviour- maybe docking points or giving fines to teams. The West Adelaide Trainer got the red card and got asked to leave the ground after, swearing at sturt players and shouting at them through the game that I could hear. Parents on the side line shouting to certain Sturt players arguing with Linesman Disgraceful. FFSA YOU NEED TO GET OUT of your office and actually see whats going on in these games, Ground Stewards have to toughen up and throw these parents out, this is what gives football a bad name- Hopefully Sturt will put in a complaint- at least they did not come down to their level , a very disappointing ending to a great game by all players. I would like to know how long a ban the trainer actually got- he should never be allowed back in womens football

Not much will be done. Over the years there have been many instances of poor and disturbing behaviour. Nothing will get done. Maybe a letter or a call. Hoepfully the referee has or will submit his report.

Who is the coach of WA?

Not sure but a sad ending to an amazing game, west Adelaide scored in the last seconds, a huge shame after all the abuse Sturt girls had to put up with during the game, hopefully the trainer will get a long ban a disgraceful display by the coaching staff and parents, ffsa have tried hard to stop this behaviour not enough is being done, harsher penalties need to be in place- heavy fines or docking points frm teams, I do hope ffsa u are reading this STEP UP AND STOP THIS BEHAVIOUR. There is no place for this in womens football, we don't go to watch girls play hearing them being sworn at and being abused all game by COACHING staff, TRAINORS AND PARENTS.

The Trainer in question is the West Adelaide President.

That's even worse, a president behaving in this way, lets hope Sturt coaching staff complain and FFSA step up and kick him out- theres no place for this behaviour in womens football, or any football- maybe if anyone one knows him, name and shame him, something has to be done :( :( :(

Nothing specific about this game, just a general comment about events like this.

Don't be fooled: this happens in every division.

Year after year, players of teams who have to play against clubs whose players, coaches and supporters continually think it's part of the game to abuse the opposition have to put up with it because the referee doesn't have a club steward to talk to (because they're too busy abusing them)!

Won't change until time passes and these people leave those clubs as I genuinely believe this attitude cannot belong to a club but to a team, if that makes sense.

No sorry don't agree this game I witnessed was extremely bad, we should not have to put up with this it gets to a point when enough is enough swearing and abusing the other team is not excepted, Lets stamp this behaviour out and kick these idiots out of the game- THERE NOT WANTED :( :( :(

Last time these 2 teams met in the city, it was the same thing to the point where in the 2nd half the referee warned him. It looks like a trend and probably not isolated to games against Sturt Marion.
It would be interesting to hear from other teams if there was a problem with this idiot while playing Westies.

so.........over 180 minutes (2 games this year)...this coach/trainer has been spoken to by an official just once, and you are calling for bans

Funny reading this, have been to only two women's game all season and both with WA and both with a lot of rage on their behalf. But this one was a real shame, grown men abusing young players it's something you should never see...But from what I heard West Adelaide are on top of the ladder and will probably win the double. They should have better officials IMO.

Haven't looked at the remaining fixtures but City are even on points and have a game in hand- wouldn't count them out. They're a pretty disciplined side.

And yes- it's a shame that some see verbally abusing young women and referees as an acceptable part of the game. And club leadership to boot. Sounds a bit like the inmates are running the asylum over there...

Might win the prems but not able to win the reserves.

The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

I think it was the League and the Cup that were being referred to as 'the double'.

I have been away and only recently returned. Reading this thread was interesting because the abusive trainer everyone has referred to was actually abusive throughout the first West Adelaide vs Adelaide City game at Kingston Gardens. The referee had occasion to warn both the coach and that trainer that day. Their behaviour was deplorable and that trainer even had a go at one of the very young City strikers (After the game) and only stopped when the girl's father strode over towards his daughter. Seems like they have been serial offenders!
