Ashes 21/22

Post by ozzie owl »

Will this summers Ashes actually happen with the crazy state border lockdowns ?

England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has made it clear he would likely opt out of touring Australia if his family aren’t able to travel or are forced into hard quarantine, while captain Joe Root noted he is waiting for more information.

No matter what happens, there will be outcries from sections of society (here and abroad).

Personally, I hope they allow them all to come, including partners etc, assuming proof of vaccination. If not, then why the hell are vaccinations the key to "opening up"?

Disclaimer: ....only if fully vaxed Aussies abroad with genuine reasons to come home aren't shunned aside instead.

I know of a few who have tickets and some members but not like the 10k we normally have making all the noise.

Should still go ahead but I'd say crowd numbers will be reduced and may not play in the same places as usual

do you get same numbers in say a tour of India or west Indies for example?
I may not be perfect but I'm still the closest I have ever come across

It will become an issue if more senior English players decide to not to tour. I can't see England wanting to send out a B team for the Ashes.

If they hardly get even close what difference does it make , you cant just go cancelling tours because some people cant get in

They were, not the case now.

I can understand why australia would want to keep it's home advantage and silence the "barmy army".

Yep, there's enough drunks at the cricket as it is. ;-)

So how effectual were the barmy army during those 5-0 beltings?

they boosted the local hotel economy , now imagine them all wearing masks and not allowed to sing in groups this time lol

Could have been less, you'll never know, all that extra pressure, all the distractions etc etc.

Don't let people in but claim victory.

Don't worry though, we'll just claim it back next series like previously. My kids weren't even alive the last time the aussies won a series in England

All of history could be classified as 'previously' but we know that last time out it didn't happen, just like us winning a series over there.

Merely making my point that the 5-0 wasn't last time and neither was us winning them back.
