Looks like the Aussies might not be as bad as I first thought. Nice warm up series win in India. Smith, Warner, who are they?

West Indies could be the smokey.

It won't be the same without teams like the Netherlands and Ireland.

Based on current form, Smith & Warner should really only be squad members at best. Not sure if anyone deserves to be dropped in the top order for them.

They should be overlooked altogether.

This has merit - the dressing room seems to be getting along ok before they came back into the picture. Time will tell

David Warner is playing really well in the IPL 19.

You know that and we don't care, so what's your point?

Handscomb and Hazelwood miss out. Looks a decent squad although not sure Smith's form warranted a place.

He will be the captain in the lockers.
Will help Finch immensely

Smith back in some sort of form, so looking ok so far.

Bring on the abuse/banter (home crowd). Reckon it might actually spur the boys on now. :)

Those 2 turds, Smith & Warner, can always go and have a cry if the English crowds are too much for their fragile egos. Hope they remembered to pack their sandpaper, if not, they can always get Langer to nip down to the hardware and get some. Maybe they have cooked up another way of cheating, wait, Lehmann isn't there, of course. I forgot, he fell on his sword also.

Can you expand on that? Surely the host nation didn't mess it up in some way?

It was a shambles - presented by a stumbling Flintoff and a couple of others who struggled with their roles.

The presentation was bad, the singing was worse, the cricket game they played was childish, it was cold and wet and the crowd was small.

Why have it at all?

The only highlights was Virat Kohli's short interview.

Sodden World Cup opening ceremony puts anticipation in deep freeze.
The curtain-raiser to this summer’s cricket showpiece took place in miserable conditions in front of a small, drenched crowd.

It probably did not take the ICC long to clear the site. They said they had invited 4,000 people, but there cannot have been many more than 400 there, corralled behind a metal barrier, all shuffling around in their plastic macs and huddled together under umbrellas.

Well, well.

Not one much for opening ceremonies in fairness. Usually its fluff and just a stage production with little to do with the event, but trust the poms to make it look like a crowd huddle at a Sunday league pub game.

Unlike football , cricket has followed a less is best policy by reducing teams competing from 14 to 10.

Records to date

Country Winners Runners Up

Australia 5 2
India 2 1
W Indies 2 1
Sri Lanka 1 2
Pakistan 1 1
England 0 3
New Zealand 0 1

Odds for 2019 Tournment

England 2.75
India 3.75
Australia 4.50
South Africa 10.00
NZ 13.00
Windies 19.00 ( Given the 400 plus against NZ thought it be on par with NZ).
Pakistan 23.00
Bangla Desh 101.00
Sri Lanka 151.00
Afghanistan 201.00

England definitely favourites, but can the pressure of the home crowd get to them?

I watched the Windies v NZ game the other night , they certainly have depth in their batting line up.

Wouldn't you have to win one first (to lose it)?
