Australia picking Englishmen

Post by Old Redback »

So it's not ok for England to pick foreign born players for their cricket team but it's ok for the Wallabies to do it?
Now the cricket team is picking an Englishman to play for them.....

had to check and it appears the parents are English as well

My favourite quote
MATT Renshaw was born in England, but his proud parents want the world to know their boy is as Ocker as Andrew Symonds.

I noted a Fox Sports' news item referring to France's "Fijian wingers" after Saturday's game against the Wallabies.
Time for some righteous indignation

Did it mention where the Australian wingers were from?

I wouldn't have bothered posting if they had.

We let you have Aussie coaches, so it evens things up a bit.

Coaches are not representing the country though. Good chance of you having 2 foreigners in your side for the next test. England have currently only got 1.

Yes they are - they usually are "expected" to wear the clobber of the team and in some cases even sing the national anthem!

How many runs does the coach make?
How many wickets does he take?
How many catches does he take?

They are not performing for the country, they are not out there representing that country.

Who would an Australian coach represent if they were coaching England then? bottle of shiraz Wales? They are doing a job to assist that team, therefore have plenty of input and therefore representing them in particular.

They wouldn't be representing anyone, they don't give the coach a representative cap do they.

Renshaw wouldn't get in the England side, so he's strolled into a foreign side.

But they give him an England jacket, polo top, tie, shirt etc as he is representing them. Done & dusted!

I'm still trying to come to terms with the Australian team wearing blue instead of their traditional green and yellow.

No, that's why they don't get a representative cap for coaching.

This is how they did it.
English is weird. It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though.

I'm still right though.

And sometimes there was friction when I couldn't get the stapler passed on, but otherwise things went fine.

A young country, it always happens so get over it.

Take the age of Australia v England and rate foreign players that represent per
Time they have been , that is a fairer argument.

What a load of crap "Steve". Australia has been playing cricket nearly as long as England. Typical hypocrisy.

The fair argument would be, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

In recent times, England have had Ben Stokes in their side. Australia will have 2 foreigners in their side for this test. Where's the mass indignation about this from Australians and sections of the media.

At several points in the game there wasn't any Australians on the field of play. At a few points there was more Englishman on the pitch than Australians.
