Given the population being 3x greater than Australia, I'm not surprised GB finished above Australia in the 'medal tally'.
That being said, i think team GB exceeded all expectations and Australia severely under-achieved so the disparity between the 2 nations is a lot greater than anyone would have anticipated

It's a shame really, they used to be quite good but now they can only be described as poor. Someone on my facebook page tried to use per capita, it was quite funny when I pointed out, per capita we're higher as well.
