Aus v India - test series

Re: Aus v India - test series
Disappointed they opted for a draw with four overs to go. Three balls to get four wickets I can understand, but four overs is doable.

Very poor finish. Australia constantly boasting about how they aggressively chase victory and yet they left the decision too late to draw out India and force a result. As for baiting Kohli - no wonder Australia don't like him - he plays aggressively with flair - exactly how the Australians would like to play ALL the time.

As I said, it was a very english-like captain's decision. Terribly "safe" and I'm glad the media is even getting stuck into them for it.

why should it be just up to Australia to play for a result....India played conservatively yet had more to gain....so, why would we give them a sniff???????

Why would you let India have a sniff, they needed to win the convicts didn't.
Re: Aus v India - test series
I agree with regards to a late declaration (as you say it was only India who needed the win) but Australia was the ony team who had a chance when they decided to call stumps early.God is an Englishman wrote:Why would you let India have a sniff, they needed to win the convicts didn't.Bomber wrote:As I said, it was a very english-like captain's decision. Re: Aus v India - test series
Do you really think they would have made 350-odd on the last day when no team has done it there to win at MCG in the history of the game? I have no problem that they batted at start of play, but geez, make some quick runs and get on with it. Both teams laboured that last day and calling it off early, they should have refunded part of the spectators entrance fees.God is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:As I said, it was a very english-like captain's decision. Re: Aus v India - test series
Whilst I agree with you that is not the way that Australia has been bigging themselves up as the champions of aggressive exciting cricket. The declaration smacked of being scared the Indians could chase the runs down in a day and not the Aussies being able to back themselves that hey could bowl them out - coward cricketing captaincy.God is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:As I said, it was a very english-like captain's decision. Re: Aus v India - test series
He could have been out late last night (dropped chance at slip). Is proving to be a headache for selectors but 80-odd is still a good knock. Whether it will save him for the ashes squad is yet to be seen. Maybe if he takes a few wickets and makes some runs in the second dig, he will get (another) reprieve.PDog wrote:Watson throws away another ton!!

Let me guess he looked to the sky and said that's for Phil Hughes.

Well he couldn't touch the plaque or kiss the ground coz Warner had already taken those photo opportunities. Actually I reckon Warner looked to the sky as wellGod is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:4/416, skipper makes another ton.

It's not like the old nintendō games where the scores revert to zero once you reach one thousand.

Warner fined in last series and now Starc breaks the new agreement between the 2 sides. When will the cons learn?

You're forgetting the rule that it is ok if the Australians break the rules but not ok if their opposition do.God is an Englishman wrote:Warner fined in last series and now Starc breaks the new agreement between the 2 sides. When will the cons learn?

More whinges from usual culprits. If he broke "rules" then he'll be fined.Old Redback wrote:You're forgetting the rule that it is ok if the Australians break the rules but not ok if their opposition do.God is an Englishman wrote:Warner fined in last series and now Starc breaks the new agreement between the 2 sides. What have Phil Hughes and the Asian bird who does in the hotel on New Years eve got in common?
They both died whilst hooking.

I love how the convicts don't allow you to even report on things without getting defensive and playing the whingeing card.Bomber wrote:Hawkesy still whingeing about others "whingeing".

Shane Warne - "that area there on off side is where Kohli has scored 28 runs, more than half his total" about Kohli who was 58 not out at the time
