and as I have said to you all along - we've rested half of them for all of the one dayers.

Like who? Surely you're not suggesting that all the test playing failures were going to make up half your ODI team?God is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:Australia resting half of their side, at least trying to give the poms even more of a sporting chance.

PS - maybe you should look at getting the Irishman into your test side. He and the Kiwi seem to be doing ok at least

I hear there's a young Canadian that might be a chance for their World Cup squad.

Of course not, but I would suggest that people who I believe are the top 2 leading wickets takers in test matches in 2013 would get in our side. The bloke who scored the most runs for England in this series and has more test runs than any of the players in the last series would get a game.
First 2 choice keepers aren't playing.
Swann was being rested for the one dayers prior to his retirement as well.

you do realise that 2013 was only a month away and the squad was picked in 2013.Bomber wrote:You do realise no matter how good someone WAS, they can get dropped for how they play NOW? Too easy!

Re: One dayers
Tell that to Trott and Swann - and they were replaced. To me it looks pretty much your standard ODI line up from who is available and has an ounce of form, KP about the only exception, although even his days appear numbered.God is an Englishman wrote:you do realise that 2013 was only a month away and the squad was picked in 2013.Bomber wrote:You do realise no matter how good someone WAS, they can get dropped for how they play NOW? Trott was never in the one day squad. I don't see how trott has anything to do with it or swann's retirement for that matter.
Broad didn't play in the 1st 2 one dayers. Where's Broad, he's been in form? So from last series best bowler, best batsmen and best keeper. Yep, that's the best team alright

Seems we've followed your lead in this match (except for best bowler).God is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:Tell that to Trott and Swann - and they were replaced. Captain, vice-captain, 2nd best bowler, wicketkeeper all missing.
Funny how you guys get a start now, with those guys missing.

Can you name the current australian test match player who has scored more runs than him?Bacon888 wrote:Finally admitting that Cook is only a reserves player!God is an Englishman wrote:We'll finally see who has the better reserves side.

It's a simple question really. :?
Re: One dayers
Finally a win for the 'England' boys....was funny watching Cook's face near the end whenever something didn't go right....some brilliant expressions

Well with certain people taking their chances it would change but it would certainly include Broad, Root, Prior (Kieswetter), KP & Anderson. Not sure who the spinner would be now but highly doubt it would be Tremlett.

I guess the luck was in part a result of Wade standing close...so not all luck !Dimitrios Ioannides wrote:Australia certainly got a bit of luck with the Bopara dismissal tonight.

I ball he hasn't taken falling onto the stumps at the exact moment Bopara lifts his foot is more down to luck than anything.swannsong wrote:I guess the luck was in part a result of Wade standing close...so not all luck !Dimitrios Ioannides wrote:Australia certainly got a bit of luck with the Bopara dismissal tonight.

I do want to see that again, at the ground it looked like he didn't have the ball when he took the bails off. Everyone around was laughing wondering what he was appealing for. ABC were shocked when he was given out.
Amazing how Clarke was changing field placings all over the place and even stoping the bowler in his run up to change more that the aussies didn't seem to boo him like when cook takes his time.

Re: One dayers
It was definitely out. The keeper didn't take the bails off. He failed to catch the ball which after hitting his fingers fell onto the bails. Unfortunately Bopara had lifted his foot for the instant the bail was dislodged.
I like the way you used an uppercase for Clarke but not for cook. Are you trying to tell us something?

Typical aussie bias really. clarke automatically changes to upper case, Cook doesn't.Dimitrios Ioannides wrote:It was definitely out. The keeper didn't take the bails off. I haven't seen it since at the ground last night but someone whose opinion I trust told me similar as to what you have said. English commentators on social media seem to think he wasn't out though.
