Re: Port power
I would like to think we will be. We'll see from today I guess. The fact things are going well off the field will send positive vibes around the club and playing group which has been absent for a few years. A fresh start, the time is now. It's up to the boys now to show us they want it

Great win, showed a lot of promise and the new boys turned it on.
Re: Port power
It's Melbourne. They'll be wooden spooners. Settle down.

Re: Port power
If they beat Melbourne by 10 points , that's one thing.
But to thrash them says there's real improvement.

If you say that night follows day, Stitch will still find reason to dispute or criticise.

Quite incorrect. If someone said you were a few raisins short of a fruitcake I'd have to agree with them.kevinkeegan wrote:If you say that night follows day, Stitch will still find reason to dispute or criticise.

Re: Port power
What relevance does is it have.....simple question.John Cena wrote:Stich who do you follow....simple question
Did kevinkeeegan say that Port were 'walking the walk' after one Victory over a very poor Melbourne......simple question. Had he not tried to big up such an inconsequential win I probably wouldn't have bothered posting.
At a pinch I follow the Crows, but really I find Aussie Rules a crap game to watch. I do find Port supporters amusing though.
Keep walking the walk and we'll see where it gets you at the end of the season.

Re: Port power
At the end of the day, you can only beat who you play and we did that convincingly. Port played 4 quarters today for the first time in a long time and with the off season happenings, there is a reason to be optimistic!

Re: Port power
It's not just the margin Port won by. The manner in which they did it and held their nerve when Melbourne put up a fight was clinical. Played 4 great quarters and have a much better game plan. No more of this passing it backwards cabernet and the way they switched the ball was fantastic and done calmly with minimal mistakes. Port will lose games this season and get thrashed no doubt at some stage but they are showing signs of a team and club that is turning the corner now and are ready to play every week for 4 qtrs

Re: Port power
I am a crows supporter but didnt enjoy seeing port virtually self destruct in recent years.
Sure I love nothing more than a showdown win, In fact I love "sticking it up em" when we win showdowns.
But the game without port takes something special away.
I hope they are really competitive this year - its good for the game here.
My initial comment in this thread was related to how each preseason in recent times we heard how port was fitter, stronger, better game plan etc only for it to mount to nought.
At least now, they have shown some substance .
It's only round one and against Melbourne, but they did what any quality side had to do - win and win well.
Like I said, good luck to them, except against the crows.

I despise the crows but all interstate teams should be giving it their all to stick it to the Vics
Re: Port power
To beat a side we were in the same boat with last season by 79 points shows improvement. Hopefully our easier early run of games gets us a few wins and some confidence to go forward and take a bigger scalp. A successful season that I think is in reach is to get into that 8-11 wins bracket. Finals are still another preseason away under Burgess

Re: Port power
Yeah agree with that 100%. We SHOULD beat the likes of Melbourne (as we did), GWS, Gold Coast and we will beat a few of the middle-tier teams I'm sure too. A couple showdown wins will be nice But I'd love to knock off a top 4 side on our home turf just to show we're on the upPaokara wrote:To beat a side we were in the same boat with last season by 79 points shows improvement. Re: Port power
yes its only melbourne who are prob a year or two away from being anything like a football side but its the way port went about it and kept on pushing the margin further in the last quarter
gws this week should be another 50 point win then we can go from there

It makes me wonder. He just might hack your feet off. I think it went something like that. Either way, your music really does suck.
