I've seen umpires do worse....
2010 was a good year...
2010 was a good year...
Stuart Broad has been stopping the ball with his boot all the way through this series. On day three of the third Test, the cameras caught him doing this in the 15th over. Then he threw the ball to James Anderson, who had a play at the area where Broad's spikes had created a tear.

The obvious question is, what's on camera?God is an Englishman wrote:what a joke, it's on camera! he was caught!!PDog wrote:and since found not guilty.

siddle picking the seam
Re: Siddle caught ball tampering
So, the obvious reply: the match referee determined that's not what he was doing - so he wasn't caught doing anything illegal.God is an Englishman wrote:siddle picking the seamChade wrote:The obvious question is, what's on camera?God is an Englishman wrote: what a joke, it's on camera! he was caught!!

he was caught, the match referee determined that they checked the ball and he wasn't successful in doing it. Basically he failed at cheating.Chade wrote:So, the obvious reply: the match referee determined that's not what he was doing - so he wasn't caught doing anything illegal.
No way can this be denied, he's caught on camera doing it.

I've seen Brad Pitt get shot and killed on camera. You make a good point, I'm sure Channel 9 have used hollywood to make it appear to the whole world that he's a cheat.Bacon888 wrote:I've seen Brad Pitt get shot and killed on camera. Just watched the video. His finger was on the seam but his finger didn't pick at the seam. Nothing there at all.

If that happened, why isnt he guilty? ICC isnt Australian, Chris Broad........where is he from again?God is an Englishman wrote:look again, his nail is on the seam PICK PICK PICK!!!Jay Walking wrote:Just watched the video. I know you must be gutted with the (correct) decision, but try and blame the Aussie media or the ACB for this one!

Re: Siddle caught ball tampering
Chris Broad has a rep for being friendly to Aussies and not so much Sri Lankans
not surprising he gave them a stay of execution but the matter is still with the ICC
we havent heard the last of this

Re: Siddle caught ball tampering
We HAVE heard the last of this.ICC match referee Chris Broad has said there was no evidence to suggest that the condition of the ball had been changed by Australia during the Hobart Test, after Sri Lanka had expressed concerns over alleged tampering. Broad said the umpires had reviewed the video footage and will not lay charges

Much like Murali's bowling record. End of, he was cleared to play despite his action, so (reluctantly) accepted, move on.rulebritannia wrote:matter is still with the ICC

Re: Siddle caught ball tampering
"It (the tampering allegations) is all pretty fresh and with us today we are focusing on the job at hand," Ford said as Sri Lanka look to square the series in the second Test at the MCG.
"We haven't even discussed it. Nobody likes to have a nasty incident and we certainly don't want any incident blown out of proportion.
"We need to discuss things further and see how we go from there."
Of the allegations against Australia, Ford said: "Honestly I didn't know too much, there was a bit around and at a stage of the match the match-referee came to me and said they had noted an incident and had spoken to the Australian team and not to worry any further about it.
"That's where it started, I'm going on hearsay but I believe the match-referee and third umpire noted something."

Pakistan legend glad accusations are not being hurled at teams in sub-continent

Waqar Younis is no stranger to ball-tampering controversies. (GETTY)
Pakistan fast bowling legend Waqar Younis has added fuel to the ball-tampering controversey involving Australian paceman Peter Siddle by insisting it was still rife in the game.
Waqar said he recently completed a commentary role in Abu Dhabi where Australia played and "it was happening then".
The first bowler banned for ball-tampering, Waqar had not seen the drama unfold in Hobart on Tuesday.
But he was hardly surprised when told of the accusations being hurled by the Sri Lankans at Australian quick.
"To be really honest, I'm not surprised. If people want to close their eyes and say, 'Oh, it's not happening and cricket is very clean', you're kidding me, that's rubbish," News.com.au quoted Waqar, as saying.

Re: Siddle caught ball tampering
the Sri Lankans didnt want to cause an incident whilst they were in the country hence their general politeness on the matter
you can imagine if the Australian team had access to such video footage of the other team doing what Siddle and Cowan were doing things would be quite different
