Gillett...

Post by Red-4-Life »

Is he really the best the FFA can get?

The standard of refereeing in the A-League just does not seem to be improving, just getting worse and more and more inconsistent. Is it time the best younger refs are brought into the system?

@FOXFOOTBALL Looks to me like #JarrodGillet is keen to cause a riot in #Adelaide.. On the other hand #Jeronimoooooo

Referee appointment to the A league is a closed shop. They select themselves by being on the selection panes or making shore that they have only their mates on the panels and get rid of anyone who thinks otherwise, When it comes to match assessments, if a assessor does not give them a good mark, they find a way to getting rid of him, and the report trashed.
Refereeing in Australia has become is becoming a joke , just look at SA.

Obviously the refs in the A League aren't drug tested ?

Given his performance last night, I thought that might need rectifying.

No promblems with the cautions to AU in the first 1/2. But the referees performane was poor due to inconsistancy. There was similar serious ofences committed by MV playes in the 1st 1/2 but the referee totaly failed to take any action. He did not even have a talk to the offender. Thats what got AU players, Coachs and spectators so angry. All he did was slightly xtend his arms sideways appologising. WHAT A WHIMP OF A REFEREE

As for the red card - correct - players going into a takle with raised extended foot studs first must be sent off for serious foul play. If you see the incident foot was high, extended and studs first, when ball was on the ground and contact was into pponents shin not even close to ball.
The referee's do potect (always have and will not stop) the eite two clubs, now three clubs and that is MV, SFC and now WSW. As does the League (FFA) and the media.

As for the fourth official, he need to understad the coulture of the game and learn to deal with the couches instead of getting them sent-off. If he was officiating in Europe, be will be sent bak to officiaing in park land football.
