keeper bringing down player
Q: keeper runs between 18 yard and centre pitch and brings down player with ball, but did not touch the ball first, if he is the last man should it not be a straight red card?
Re: keeper bringing down player
obvious goal scoring opportunity?
PS taking the ball first doesn't preclude a foul.

A an outfield player gets sent off if he's the last man before the keeper, Why would a keeper not with no-one behind him.fossil wrote:Q: keeper runs between 18 yard and centre pitch and brings down player with ball, but did not touch the ball first, if he is the last man should it not be a straight red card?
But, I guess it depends on if it were an obvious goalscoring opportunity. If he's not heading toward goal, I guess he may escape a red card

If it was a free kick, he should have been off.Sending-off Offences
A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any
of the following seven offences:
• serious foul play
• violent conduct
• spitting at an opponent or any other person
• denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply
to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
• denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent
moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a
free kick or a penalty kick
• using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
• receiving a second caution in the same match
A player, substitute or substituted player who has been sent off must
leave the vicinity of the field of play and the technical area.

thanks zack thats what i thought, heard tonight ref said player didn't deserve a red but was given a yellow
Re: keeper bringing down player
Pretty much, the keeper would be denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity if the attacker is about to shoot or will shoot on his next touch. If so it should be red. If the player takes a horrible touch for example and he wouldn't have got to the ball then the ref could understandably give him a yellow and Free Kick/ Penalty. Put simply, they've pretty much got to have a decent shot on goal on their next touch

If the card refracts yellow light it is yellow. If it refracts red light it is red.

Completely disagree,
It's about an "obvious goal scoring opportunity", this could happen on the half way line or even in the opposition half if the ball and the player were going in the right direction and he would have been through on goal.
On the other side, from the original situation. If the player is not heading towards the goal then it wouldn't be an "obvious goal scoring opportunity"

For a GK using his hands it more or less does. Don't see how hands can be dangerous.muts wrote:obvious goal scoring opportunity?
