5-1 win against Taipei this morning.

Good corners by McGree with towering man mountain Harry Souttar getting on the end of the first one.

Hrustic emerging as a midfield playmaker and Karacic proving to be a better right-back than ex-mullet man Grant.

Your correct. It was a well worked goal but our defense looked frail against a side that was totally outplayed.

I dont think our 3:0 win over Nepal will be one our Australia's finest wins. Especially as Nepal played 1 player down. Rohit Chand was sent off for a professional foul on Martin Boyle before half-time. Boyle flop to the ground would have made Grosso's Italian mates proud. This is where VAR would have come in handy. Cheap attempt for a foul when he should gone on and have scored a goal. :x

8 wins from 8 game with a late goal against Jordan which also puts them out of the next phase, can't ask for much more i suppose but let's hope they continue this in the real group stages

Seems a fairly good draw.

The Socceroos have learned their opponents for the final stage of Asian Qualifying!
Following Thursday's draw in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,Australia was drawn into Group B alongside Japan, Saudi Arabia, China PR, Oman and Vietnam.

The group's winners and runners-up in each group (four total) will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the two third-placed teams will advance to a playoff, where they will play to determine which team will advance to the intercontinental playoff.

Japan will top the group, Aussies to battle for 2nd spot

Some tricky away games as always with Asian teams

I'll settle for a 1 - 0 win in every group game as long as we qualify for the next phase.

Australia v China PR

Date: Thursday, 2 September 2021
Venue: Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, Qatar
Kick-off: 9pm local (4am AEST – Friday, 3 September 2021)
Broadcast: Live and free in Australia on Network 10 – pre-game coverage from 3.30am AEST

Some Players named I have no knowledge of but a fairly good squad. Notice Paul Izzo named. Maybe one of the only GK's available. Pity Matt Leckie not there.

Great to see young Ryan Strain get a call up to the squad too.

Can’t see that happening, Bomber.

I remember in a previous campaign they dragged us to high-altitude (6,500-feet) Kunming for a 0-0 draw, then beat us 1-0 in front of 70,000 in Sydney.

Good start in this second phase of qualifying with a 3-0 win over China.

The shock in this group was Japan losing 0-1 at home versus Oman, which will help Australia’s cause.

Very heartening to see some of the Olyroos stepping up to the senior team, including Gawler boy Riley McGree.

Now on to Tuesday’s away game against Vietnam in the heat/humidity of Hanoi.

How poor were the Chinese though. Could have been a higher score. Arnie has the boys playing well.

Some of those Chinese players may be helping the Uyghurs next week. Coach certainly. Defense was totally crap to non existent.

Australia vs Vietnam 10 Bold, 10 Play My Dinh Stadium Tue, Sep 7 10.00pm

With Vietnam currently dealing with a surge in COVID-19, this game will be played without fans but a humid climate still awaits the Socceroos.

Park Hang-seo's side have improved significantly over the past decade with one of their last matches on home soil in November 2019 seeing them upset the UAE 1-0.

Australia can't afford to take Vietnam lightly, who could pose more of a challenge than China did in their last outing.

The Socceroos have now won nine-straight games and looked particularly sharp in Qatar despite having just two days in camp together.
With a potential return to Australia looming next month, two wins on the road would set Arnold's side up nicely to make a fifth-straight World Cup next year.

How to watch the Socceroos vs Vietnam in Australia
While streaming service Paramount Plus isn't ready to show the action just yet, the Socceroos' game against Vietnam will be broadcast on television via 10 Bold and online via 10 Play.

10 Play is available via the App Store and Google Play with the platform also accessible via Apple TV, Android TV, Freeview, Fetch, Samsung and Telstra TV.

Simon Hill and Andy Harper will be calling the action with Mark Milligan, Bruce Djite, Alex Brosque and Georgia Yeoman-Dale also set to provide their analysis.

Vietnam v Australia 0-1. A header by ex-mullet man Rhyan Grant just before half-time.

Horrible pitch, terrible humidity, scrappy performance but got the win thankfully.

Thought the same. Australia dominated field play but apart from the goal never troubled the Vietnam goalkeeper. A win is still a win I suppose .
Just looking at other group results , this group will not be a stroll in the park. We have points on the board.

What a shocking pitch looked liked mid season amateur league ground .
