Cor blimey, Channel 9 even have the game on their main channel. AFL & NRL finals frenzy must be over or it's on so late (11pm Adelaide time) that they don't care. Will be past some Socceroos-critics' bed-time
If the tie is in the balance it will be interesting if Channel 9 shows the Tuesday 10 October home game in prime time on their main station or bump it and hide it on a secondary channel like 9GO.

Does it really matter? Who doesn't have digital tv? Can you even still have analogue?

Totally agree, its on FTA so who cares what channel, although I don't think con will be happy unless its beamed onto the clouds like the Bat Signal

With your opinion which is of no consequence at all

Fair question, God ISN'T an Englishman. And yes, analogue no longer exists.
But old habits die hard for a lot of dinky-di AFL/NRL main-stream Aussies who still like the main Channels of 7, 9 & 10 for their high-rating soapies, cooking shows, ultra-brief news & sport. Why do you think their sponsors/advertisers demand TV Stations show those high-rating programs on their main platforms?
And recently there was a furore by the few AFL fans in Sydney when Greater Western Sydney's finals game in the AFL wasn't shown on Ch7's main HD Channel which showed an old movie which rated higher in Sin City. GWS's finals game was bumped to one of 7's secondary channels & the poor AFL fans couldn't find it. Go figure.
Average performance in the second half. The back-three still getting killed down the flanks and Syria's cut-backs could have resulted in more damage.
This 1-1 draw has an eerie resemblance to the 1-1 in Tehran back in '97. Iran then grabbed a
2-2 draw in Melbourne which knocked Australia out on away goals. Sure hope Syria doesn't squeak a
2-2 in Sydney on Tuesday 10 October.
God is an Englishman wrote:Even I don't think that was a penalty
Even the Masos reserves ref wouldnt have called it ..
That was a shocker of all decisions - 50/50 niggling tussle between 2 players , happens all the time and always let go by referees - the Syrian player made a meal of it when he fell down on the ground to fish for a penalty. Referee was hooked line and sinker.

Soft penalty yes but the 3-4-2-1 is still not working defensively .
After Juric hit the woodwork twice, Australia lost control of the game.
The three substitutes who came on all had shockers.

Terry Venables was inflexible too with his coaching, so this synopsis may have some merit

and still the best coach australia has ever had. I wish we could have kept him at England for longer.

As bad as the team performed Ange has totally lost it, he got bye with 'honourable losses' during the world cup, but changing a winning (Asian Cup) formation and system so we can 'make an impact at the World Cup' will cost us even qualifying, it's like watching a car crash knowing whats coming but not being able to stop it!

Hiddink was better than Venables.

Pretty much spot on. As a "little" country in the code, qualifying is the best we can ask for with this bunch. Saying we're going there to make an impact and go out to win it is verging on delusional especially when you ain't even there yet. What will be the cost of failure? Is it $40m or thereabouts? Could and probably might win at home (maybe in extra time or penalties) but the next stage will be the killer methinks.
That said, the penalty decision WAS laughable although I've seen just as cabernet decisions in NPL this season, so it's nothing unusual.

Bomber, the earlier point of changing formation is very relevant. The way we play is a shadow of the Asian cup. Defence is poor and we can't score a goal. Ange is delusional. All the credibility he gained is well and truly lost.
Let's NOt compare these uselessroos to the past Socceroos.
Drummer Ng up a pathetic A-league is the real focus and the game is suffering via crapp players.
All bar Mooy, the rest re below average

I am confused by what Cornuto posted can some please translate into English.
You really should be ashamed of yourselves Australia Socceroos.
Commentators trying to drum up a pathetic performance. No wonder the sport is going nowhere in this country.
Really poor performance and you got your second with the help of the ref, blocking a forward attack from the brave war torn Syrians. Who would be beaten by an amateur Sunday team eg The wanderers
