Re: 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
Given he's announced he's stepping down after the WC, it would be pretty poor form to sack him before then.Grosso wrote:Ange is trying to keep his job until 2018
He'd just go coach in China anyway. Ange isn't going to miss the top job too much.

Re: 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
After watching the Cameroon game, I am convinced that Ange is trying to get the sack so he can go to a club job somewhere else, as there are regular reports of clubs interested in him.
If he really thinks that Australia has the players to play with a back 3 then I hope he does get the sack.
In both matches to date, the opponent has had more unmarked men in and around the box on so many occasions it is almost comical, whereas Australian defences were rarely outnumbered when they played with 4 at the back.
I am also not happy with how it leaves Ryan exposed so often he has lost his confidence and looks almost amateurish at times.

Certainly gets the ball but is it the ball or the man first?Grosso wrote:nopeGod is an Englishman wrote:So, was it a penalty?
Re: 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
Ball first. Man didnt have control of the ball when incidental contact occurred.God is an Englishman wrote:Certainly gets the ball but is it the ball or the man first?Grosso wrote:nopeGod is an Englishman wrote:So, was it a penalty?
Not many refs would award that but with VAR we'll see a lot more pens.

I'm sure England would love to play in the Confederations Cup as it would mean one of the following :
1. They had won the WC.
2. They had won the Euros.
3. They had won hosting rights for the WC .

Re: 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
Not necessarily. What if the same team had won the world cup and the Euros?
I tend to go off on a tangent

Precisely how Italy qualified for the 2013 event.sin²x + cos²x = 1 wrote:Not necessarily. What if the same team had won the world cup and the Euros?

I'm sure like all the other countries in it, we would still treat it like the friendly tournament it is.ozzie owl wrote:Brian the Postman wrote:If you saw the brawl between Mexico and New Zealand you would see your answer.God is an Englishman wrote:Does anyone care about this tournament?

Re: 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
You don't know that we'll never know. Maybe we could pretend to be from where we're not and qualify that way. Or we could win the World Cup. I mean that's the only winner of a real tournament in the event (possibly Portugal but that's a stretch)eagleboy wrote:You will never know.

Re: 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
No point in England entering any tournaments as they always end up losing to Germany on penalties at some stage.

I think they won it on penalties over the Falklands war runners-up.
