(not that I have any intention of watching it)

I agree Con, in that heat a 1-0 win is fantastic, great to see Timmy come off the bench to win it, mind you great cross from Brad Smith.Con M wrote:Precious win away in that awful heat. And who else but Timmy Cahill with the decisive goal.
Bring on Japan in Melbourne on the 11th of October.
Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
Massive result. Timmy the super-sub saves us again!
It wasn't exactly the prettiest performance but playing in high 30's with humidity will do that. We certainly out ran them. Next round has some big games in it as well with Saudi Arabia away and Japan at home.
Saudi Arabia is second although their results do strike fear in my heart.
2-1 "away" win v Iraq in Malaysia and a 1-0 win v Thailand at home.

Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
don't be so stupid.......with Rooney coaching England, Australia are second favourites behind them.

Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
Why did you feel the need to bring up England in a thread about UAE v australia?MegaBonus wrote:don't be so stupid.......with Rooney coaching England, Australia are second favourites behind them.
Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
For once we agree, massive result for every Football lover in Australia, an away win in 40c against a team that just beat one of the favourites for the group is a massive resultGod is an Englishman wrote:Beating UAE 1-0 with a late goal is massive
And some people think you have no idea

Yes, UAE are a footballing powerhouse. What a huge result for Australia.Knight15 wrote:For once we agree, massive result for every Football lover in Australia, an away win in 40c against a team that just beat one of the favourites for the group is a massive resultGod is an Englishman wrote:Beating UAE 1-0 with a late goal is massive

If Modbury Jets draw with/beat Adelaide Uni on Saturday and ensure they avoid the drop I'm sure that will be seen by some as massive.

Rather amusing that poms visit the Aussie football forum. Given their toughest group game is likely to be away to Scotland its hardly cause to mock wins from others against such oppositionGod is an Englishman wrote:Yes, UAE are a footballing powerhouse. Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
I would say this is the equivalent of us getting a win against Murray Bridge and claiming it as massive.Stitch This wrote:If Modbury Jets draw with/beat Adelaide Uni on Saturday and ensure they avoid the drop I'm sure that will be seen by some as massive.
Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
Amazing how Tim got away with the two handed shove on the UAE player just before he scored.

Yeah 2 players shove each other so the weaker one should win a free? Cmon swanny
Re: U.A.E. versus Australia
Look at the video...UAE player runs toward Tim and Tim just shoves him away and off balance....BPBC wrote:Yeah 2 players shove each other so the weaker one should win a free? Cmon swanny
Unfortunately pushing, shoving, grabbing etc. have crept more and more into the modern game...it's almost like AFL these days...anything goes.

Agree, more so by the defenders too, which is probably why this was deemed okswannsong wrote:Look at the video...UAE player runs toward Tim and Tim just shoves him away and off balance....BPBC wrote:Yeah 2 players shove each other so the weaker one should win a free? Cmon swanny

Yeah that's it how often do we see Timmy bear hugged during a corner?BPBC wrote:Agree, more so by the defenders too, which is probably why this was deemed okswannsong wrote:Look at the video...UAE player runs toward Tim and Tim just shoves him away and off balance....BPBC wrote:Yeah 2 players shove each other so the weaker one should win a free? It's obviously a free kick but that bloke was all over our players every chance he had. Besides this mistake I thought the ref was good. He let the game flow really well.
