Sounds great. If we want the big sides we've got to pay for it. Nice to see that the Government has worked this out, 10 years after the East Coast did.

SA Govt see it as an investment as it would bring some Japanese to the state who may spend money on the local economy - as otherwise they wouldnt know the place exists or bother to come.Stuckey wrote:Sounds great. Govt would see it as a $2 million ad which is equivalent to 2 full pages in a national newspaper.
Its not an investment in football, but rather the local economy.

Yep that's pretty much it. But I for one am more than happy to see football used as a tool in this way. Its a perfect way for Adelaide to connect with Asia which is something the Government is more than keen to do.Grosso wrote:SA Govt see it as an investment as it would bring some Japanese to the state who may spend money on the local economy - as otherwise they wouldnt know the place exists or bother to come.Stuckey wrote:Sounds great. Its a win-win. SA gets international attention (especially from Asia) and get to use their "multi-purpose" stadium. SA Football gets another opportunity to create interest in the game here.
Given the date of the game it ties in to the start of the HAL season quite well. Hopefully AU could secure their "marquee" game at AO vs MVFC around the same time.
This could possibly make it justifiable to "re-configure" Adelaide Oval slightly and put a temporary stand on the pitch bringing everyone closer to the action.
Re: SA govt in $2 million Socceroos v Japan bid
temporary stands cost money and would require additional insurance due to the risk they carry
not going to happen
not going to happen

I know its just a dream. But I think for more than one game it could be worth considering.Grosso wrote:temporary stands cost money and would require additional insurance due to the risk they carry

The FFA are set to award this match to Melbourne.
Adelaide should probably bid for UAE or Thailand but neither will see much return in tourism dollars.

Grosso, the government have finally woke up to the fact that Football is the only code that can fill AO and attract overseas tourists at the same time, that's why they are doing it.
The pay-off for them is the boost to the local economy and the overseas advertisement of SA - Football in SA gets little from it apart from the pride of filling AO and bringing overseas money into SA - something the crows and power could never achieve.

Must have been your influence that stopped SA from offering more.
