I find it funny how some players don't even have to kick a ball to get in the squad like Juric has done yet Mitch Duke is scoring in the J-league but can't get in.
I understand playing players like Oar who hasn't got a club can help him find one but I would like to see a bit more focus on form being rewarded sometimes.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
English is weird. It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though.

Re: The road to Moscow
Was Patrick Smith's criticism of Ange in 'The Australian' newspaper wrong?
Ange merely said he could have done without the pay dogfight distraction as he only has his players assembled from all over the World for a limited time - unlike club managers.
I don't think he meant that their time was too precious to spend meeting kids at a Perth school.

Re: The road to Moscow
Mitchell Duke is barely scoring in the J-league, he's been playing lwb for most of the season and has only recently shifted to striker as his team are at the bottom of the league, though i agree that players that are playing week in week out should be chosen.Stuckey wrote:Read more at http://www.adelaideunited.com.au/articl ... f308Yx5.99Socceroos squad for 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier v Bangladesh and Tajikistan

Re: The road to Moscow
Pretty happy with how the game went. We didn't get bogged down by a few unlucky chances early on.
Very happy with the make up of the squad now as well.
Only thing I'm missing at this stage is another target up front if Cahill is out. I'd like to see Mitch Duke given another chance since he's doing fairly well in Japan. Also once when Juric starts playing regularly again hopefully he'll be back in the squad too.

3-0 away win is great result ,especially given the plastic pitch.Stuckey wrote:Pretty happy with how the game went. We didn't get bogged down by a few unlucky chances early on.

Re: The road to Moscow
Yeah its shaping up very nicely. I viewed the Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan away games as the most dangerous due to it being such unknown territory for us. At least the side knows what to expect in Jordan.
Re: The road to Moscow
It's hard to tell against this level of opposition, but maybe we have a new golden generation starting to emerge? I'm still enjoying the Ange style - a mix of the physicality and skill - very Australian IMO. The future's certainly not looking as poor as it was.

Funny that, nice to see the people whinging about all the oldies not getting a game have dried up. The future certainly looks bright.otto62 wrote:It's hard to tell against this level of opposition, but maybe we have a new golden generation starting to emerge? Weren't they in Tajikistan recently? That's practically half way there.

Re: The road to Moscow
Pretty disappointing display. Slow ball movement fell right in to the hands of the Jordanians. I couldn't really understand why they constantly attacked so narrowly ignoring Elrich as an option so often. Ange's success has come from spreading defences wide.
We definitely deserved to lose that one.

Re: The road to Moscow
For all our dominance of possession in the first half we rarely got a shot on target. The Jordanians defended well, but I thought we lacked the cutting edge, the incisive ball behind the defence. Thought Luongo was disappointing, considering the impact he's shown he can make in previous games.Stuckey wrote:Pretty disappointing display. Re: The road to Moscow
Very poor display all round.
Apart from Mooey in the early stages we never looked capable of creating any real chances.
Ange really has to work out a system of overcoming sides who park the bus and rely on break outs to score - after all Australia used the same 'tactics' when he was playing.
Why he didn't play it wide and use the wings to open them up I'll never understand - then again I'll never understand why he gave Burns another chance when he's produced nothing in his previous appearances.
Burns is a good A League player given space to run in but is just not up to international standard.
This short passing game is not much use if you haven't got players who can do it under pressure.
Stick to the system you know Ange.

Pretty happy with that performance. Mooy was immense.
Where was this ball movement in Jordan?!
Meredith looks excellent as well.
Should have been 6-0.
If results go our way during the week we might be thru. We'll need Kyrgyzstan to lose during the week to Jordan at home.
If that does happen it would be wonderful to see Ange experiment a little in the final home games with Jordan and Tajikistan and give a few players of the future a run.

Re: The road to Moscow
Must say I was impressed with the referee (apart from the pen claim that went against them late first half) - a lot of falling over, attempts to get soft free kicks were quickly waved away and he let the game flow.
To me, 7-1 seemed about a right result but will take 3-0 any day of the week.

I thought replays showed it was clearly not a penalty Bomber? either way i agree ref was excellent and it was good game to watch.Bomber wrote:Must say I was impressed with the referee (apart from the pen claim that went against them late first half) - a lot of falling over, attempts to get soft free kicks were quickly waved away and he let the game flow.

Mooy was in everything, back to play too, he was awesome. Jedinak was also brilliant and was great to see Rogic back out there. Timmy as usual absolute champion. Cant think of anyone who didn't play well actually
Re: The road to Moscow
Decent squad. Wonderful to see Giannou included.
Not really sure why Gersbach is there.
