Australia OUT!
Rumours circulating on twitter that there is a movement to vote Australia out of the AFC.
Re: Australia OUT!
I hope this might just be the kick in the muscat the FFA needs. They are certainly dragging their feet on the 3+1 player ruling. Hopefully it sees some more iron clad plans for promotion and relegation. Those are two key issues for the AFC.

Where are these rumours coming from?
Maybe we can then join CONCACAF or CAF or even UEFA (why not? Israel is there!)

wow...if we did, England wouldn't be guaranteed top spot in their qualifying group against such heavyweights as San Marino, Estonia and Lithuania...

That would appear to make the most sense, it's a confederation in name only.ozzie owl wrote:Simple solution shut down Oceania and merge into Asia Confederation.Stuckey wrote:Rumours circulating on twitter that there is a movement to vote Australia out of the AFC.

Re: Australia OUT!
I hope this cracks open the east west split of Asia with East Asia absorbing Oceania.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/football/a ... 7201730991[/quote]According to reports in Fairfax media, the Asian football boss told the Dubai-based newspaper Al-Ittihad that “there are indications that prove that such desire exists among the confederations of West Asia to evict Australia”.
Yes I was waiting for our mainstream media to weigh in.
Naturally they have NFI what the actual issues are and are just presuming its due to us being too awesome!

I really hope that is the end of this.

The rise of social media, where you can always find someone who over-reacts or deliberately misinterprets, and the attempt by main stream media to survive by relating to said social media (eg referring to Twitter as if it's a news source) is starting to result in main stream media looking like a bunch of idiots.

Re: Australia OUT!
It comes with the total lack of investigative ability of journalists in the mainstream media. They survive almost entirely on media hand outs or drama driven BS.otto62 wrote:The rise of social media, where you can always find someone who over-reacts or deliberately misinterprets, and the attempt by main stream media to survive by relating to said social media (eg referring to Twitter as if it's a news source) is starting to result in main stream media looking like a bunch of idiots.

Re: Australia OUT!
It comes from a quote from the AFC President. Looks like they're finally waking us to the fact that Australia isn't part of Asia.
They should be made to go back to Oceania where they belong.

A SHOCKED Asian football chief has savaged claims on the eve of the Asian Cup final that the Confederation wants to expel Australia.
“Stunned” Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa has backed Australia’s membership, and told the Herald Sun that alleged comments to the contrary were “manipulated”.
Sheikh Salman praised Australia for putting on a wonderful Asian Cup and said the focus should be on Saturday night’s final between Australia and South Korea, which will attract 80,000 fans and a global TV audience of 80 million.

Yeah, a quote from last year sometime(?) in which the AFC President says that some members (not him) didn't want Australia to join in 2006. Stunning news! What a break though of journalistic research.
Did they bother checking which nations made the comments back in 2006, in order to ask if they are still of the same view?
They didn't even bother checking what the AFC President's own view is, just (like you) misrepresented it as the view of the AFC President by the simple sound bite "a quote from the AFC President".

Re: Australia OUT!
I think the AFC president is also making the same point. However, as you well know Australia in AFC is entirely different circumstances to Israel playing in UEFA.Sasaki Nozomi wrote:You're the one who is using geography to make a point.
Kazakhstan might make a better point for you.
Re: Australia OUT!
I did think of Kazakhstan but the if the AFC is going to argue on geographical grounds the should be just as willing to take in israel with open arms.

Whose choice was Israel playing in UEFA?
Re: Australia OUT!
UEFA's. They could easily have said no.
