What was the average age, and average national games played of the starting XI in 2011? What is it now?Black_Panther wrote:Stuckey wrote:How did Holger take us backwards if his results are better than what they are now?Black_Panther wrote: That's what I'm getting at. Hasn't Ange taken us backwards?

oh FFS you complained before this comp it was all about results and we weren't getting any, now we get some, its clearly progress made, and you still have an issue.Black_Panther wrote:How did Holger take us backwards if his results are better than what they are now?Stuckey wrote:That's what I'm getting at. I'm not sure about 2011 but in 2010 Australia took the second oldest squad to the WC behind Italy.Slinky_Pete wrote:What was the average age, and average national games played of the starting XI in 2011? What is it now?Black_Panther wrote:Stuckey wrote:

Over the next 3 and a half years very little was seriously done to replace that squad.

It's progress under Ange, but it's not progress in terms of our performance at the Asian cup.BPBC wrote:oh FFS you complained before this comp it was all about results and we weren't getting any, now we get some, its clearly progress made, and you still have an issue.Black_Panther wrote:How did Holger take us backwards if his results are better than what they are now?Stuckey wrote: That's what I'm getting at. Surely you can see that right?

The starting XI for the Semi v Uzbek was average age 30.09 years (with 5 players over 30)Stuckey wrote:I'm not sure about 2011 but in 2010 Australia took the second oldest squad to the WC behind Italy.Slinky_Pete wrote: What was the average age, and average national games played of the starting XI in 2011? The starting XI vs UAE was 26.49 (2 over 30 - Timmy & Mike)

What do you win for this as opposed to what you win for results?Kosta Utd wrote:Black_Panther wrote: It's progress under Ange, but it's not progress in terms of our performance at the Asian cup.

What do you win for making the final from a 6-0 result that you don't from a 2-0 result?Black_Panther wrote:What do you win for this as opposed to what you win for results?Kosta Utd wrote:Black_Panther wrote: It's progress under Ange, but it's not progress in terms of our performance at the Asian cup.

Right I see, you are now trying to compare our performance 4 years and basically a whole squad on from our last one. If that's the case, and a very strange way of comparing coaches, Saturday night will give you your answer.Black_Panther wrote: It's progress under Ange, but it's not progress in terms of our performance at the Asian cup.

Re: Australia v UAE Semi Final
I was one of Ange's biggest critics when he was appointed but I have been proven wrong by the Socceroo's performances in the Asian Cup.
They are playing with a recognisable style and confidence in their roles and have cover in every position, what more can you have as proof of progress?
Even when we lost against SK we were the much better side despite not being able to score.
It will be a different game altogether on Saturday night as Ange will have learnt all he needs to know about them by then and will devise a plan to beat them - just like he did a against UAE.

The older I get the better I was.

He's been hanging around Hawkesy too much.
Time for some righteous indignation
Re: Australia v UAE Semi Final
Apparently Australia won. When is the final?
I'm not playing anymore and I'm taking my ball and going home.
