U16 AFC Chmapionship

Post by COYR98 »

Began in Thailand a few days ago. The joeys won there first two games against china and hong kong 3-0 and 2-0, and are joint top of the group with Japan, who they'll play in the last game of the group stage. Like the u19 championship, this tournament doubles up as a qualifiers for the u17 world cup. A few SA boys in the squad aswell.

AU assistant Marti was watching the match. Hopefully he sees a few players he likes!

Joeys thru to the next round with a 4-2 win over Japan. They topped their group winning all three games in the process.

Maybe the 'dutch revolution' is finally starting to pay off?

Ange was in the crowd watching as well. I think they play Malaysia now in the quarter finals, and who ever wins goes to the semi finals and qualifies for next years world cup.

So they beat Malaysia 2-1 and qualify for the U16 WC. Now we face North Korea in the semis.

So I see two kids in the squad are from the FFSA NTC in Christian Verbi, Charlie Devereux and Riley McGree. Does anyone know besides the NTC where they're from?
Also see that Zak Waters and Tommy Stokes played in qualifying but missed the squad. I think they both have spent time with AU academy side?

Christian and Charlie are from Adelaide City, and Riley from a club in the North.
