Why is everyone saying Liverpool prospect Brad Smith. He doesn't play for Liverpool ATM.

2 reasons, imo.Stuckey wrote:Why is everyone saying Liverpool prospect Brad Smith. He doesn't play for Liverpool ATM.
1. He's still on their books, so technically still their players.
2. The media's never heard of Swindon Town.

What has Antonis done to continually get opportunities at international level?

I agree. The kid has got talent, but I would hardly call his return from injury anything amazing.Black_Panther wrote:What has Antonis done to continually get opportunities at international level?

I really want to see Amini get the most out of his potential... and Da Silva - throw them in.

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
i think ange wants 40 players that can all play at 2018, 2 or 3 for each starting 11 stop across the board.
plan would be all startin 11 plays as starters in all top european leagues.
ultimate soceroos team.

He might want to see if he can get a game for the U23s first. He hasn't played NT football in years.ikon wrote:I really want to see Amini get the most out of his potential... and Da Silva - throw them in.

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
Jeez, McGowan is the surprise one to be omitted after filling in for Franjic at right back at the World Cup.
Possible starting line-up against competent middle-order Euro side Belgium:
Ryan (GK);
Back four - Davidson, Wilkinson, Herd, Wright;
Midfield - Oar, Jedinak, Milligan, Kruse;
Forwards - Cahill, Leckie.

Some interesting selections there Con.Con M wrote:Jeez, McGowan is the surprise one to be omitted after filling in for Franjic at right back at the World Cup.

a 4-4-2, wright & Davidson playing out of position.
You really do want him to experiment!

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
With some of the omissions it may be down to Ange wanting to try other players and allowing some players to stay with their clubs early in the season so they don't fall down the pecking order being away.

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
my line up for the both games
(4-2-3-1) GK -Maty Ryan
RB Milligan - CB Herd - CB Trent Sainsbury - LB Brad Smith
CDM - Brilliante CDM - Jedinak
RM - Leckie AM - Oar LM - Kruse (if fit, if not Cahill AM Oar LM and Juric ST)
ST -Cahill
(4-3-3) GK - Mitch Langerak
RB - Brilliante CB - Bailey Wright CB - Alex Wilkinson LB - Davidson
CM - Antonis CM - Valeri (for shits)
RW - Halloran CM - Luongo LW - Kruse
ST - Juric
Not bad not bad, considering players like Bresciano and Franjic havent been called up for obvious reasons, would have liked to see Amini and even maybe Da Silva/Oikonomidas called up and throw them some minutes.

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
I don't get why everyone wants to see Amini in. Is playing 3rd div in Germany really that impressive?
Oikonomidas I'm guessing you're talking about Ikonomidis who certainly deserves a call up but as I mentioned with some of the omissions, maybe he's better served staying at Lazio to continue to push for a first Xi spot.

http://www.socceroos.com.au/article/smi ... f945hukqbxYoung Australian left-back Brad Smith says he is "over the moon" with his Socceroos call-up, despite having represented England at youth level.
Great to read.
Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
Although their only friendlies, Having seen him with Dortmund first team against some pretty big teams, he doesn't look out of place and plays accurate and sometimes defence splitting passes. He's also beefed up and is stronger on the ball which seems to helped him a bit. Only criticism is that at a defensive midfielder he doesn't do enough defensive actions to be able to hold a spot.

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
Eli Babalj has 5 goals in the last 2 games for the reserves at his dutch club.
If he can break into the first team he will give the socceroos a very different option than what we have.
He is still only 22 so has a lot of football ahead of him.

Yeah I'm a fan of his. But as you said though he'd need to get back into the first Xi to warrant a call up.Black_Panther wrote:Eli Babalj has 5 goals in the last 2 games for the reserves at his dutch club.

Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
Decent squad!Belgium squad:
Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea), Simon Mignolet (Liverpool), Jean-Francois Gillet (Torino)
Defenders: Toby Alderweireld (Atletico Madrid), Laurent Ciman (Standard), Guillaume Gillet (Bastia), Vincent Kompany (Manchester City), Nicolas Lombaerts (Zenit Saint-Petersbourg), Jelle Van Damme (Standard), Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham)
Midfielders: Nacer Chadli (Tottenham), Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg), Steven Defour (Anderlecht), Moussa Dembele (Tottenham), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United), Radja Nainggolan (AS Roma), Axel Witsel (Zenit Saint-Petersbourg)
Forwards: Romelu Lukaku (Everton), Dries Mertens (Naples), Kevin Mirallas (Everton), Divock Origi (Lille)
In other news Bresc has come into the squad to replace Antonis.
Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
Read more at http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/auss ... 06rulr8.99Down to the 3. Liga, and Mustafa Amini was an unused substitute for Borussia Dortmund II as they played out a 0-0 draw with Hallescher FC. He was also an unused substitute earlier in the week when they lost 3-1 to FSV Mainz II
Why Amini isn't getting a call up.
Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
Yeah baffles me especially considering the big part he had in the first team pre season. Only explanation is that dortmund are keeping him fresh for their games but i dunno.
Re: Asian Cup lead up friendlies
No that wasn't a question. That's me saying this IS why he's not getting a call up.COYR98 wrote:Yeah baffles me especially considering the big part he had in the first team pre season. Only explanation is that dortmund are keeping him fresh for their games but i dunno.
