Socceroos v England...NOVEMBER ??

Post by adelaidebloke »

Roy Hodgson has lined up a November friendly with Australia.

The Football Association have already sounded out the Socceroos about a fixture - as long as England reach the World Cup finals.

Germany have also been lined up as one of the friendly opponents for the games in November which would be on the same nights as the play-offs to decide who fills the last places in Brazil.

Argentina and Uruguay have also been sounded out but they appear to be fading now. Uruguay could also be involved in a World Cup play-off.

Australia have already qualified for the World Cup but sacked coach Holger Osieck after they were thumped in a friendly with France on Friday night.

The Three Lions are also likely to play Denmark in a friendly in March by which time they hope to be building up to the World Cup.

England facing Germany - assuming they qualify - will be a highly lucrative fixture while the old rivalry with the Aussies could give that extra spice if they are chosen ahead of Argentina.
