Socceroo Harry Kewell is being tipped to join Scottish champions Celtic at the end of this season.
English newspapers have reported that Kewell has been told by Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez that he is free to go.
Kewell has struggled with injuries during his five-year spell with Liverpool.
He is expected to join up with the Socceroos in time to play in this weekend's friendly against Singapore.
Kewell is one of four players named in the squad for the World Cup qualifier against China next week who have been released early by their European clubs.
Michael Beauchamp, James Troisi and Adrian Leijer are also expected to join the squad in Singapore.
The final squad for the game against China will be finalised after the weekend.

Schwarzer could be joining Celtic at the end of the season as his contract expires with Middlesbrough. He could be the replacement for Artur Boruc who is set to leave the hoops at the end of the season.
