Not taking anything away from the players and their capabilities but its obvious to see that our players are obviously exceptional at playing football (otherwise they wouldn't have been picked) but that doesn't mean that they are exceptional at Futsal. Untill Futsal SA start pushing forwards with propper Futsal seasons like our outdoor competition instead of the social gathering at the end of the outdoor season like 80% of its players use it as, it will stay the same.

Again, not to take away from the kids..........but coaches? coaches? and their selections!!!!! Parents are sometimes the better critics and NORMALLY not stupid and can pick out good players, and from what I understand in some cases better players were left behind for unexplicable reasons. As with all teams in all sports until selections are based on performance and performance only then we might get somewhere, until this happens it will get harder and harder to convince parents to pay the amounts requested to send kids. The other problem is that as kids get older and move into the senior outdoor game, their commitment to their club will most times take precedence and this therefore limits selections.

Tasmania 4 (Joshua Quan 10’, Andrew Clark 18’, Adam McKeown 27’, Eli Luttmer 29’)
South Australia 1 (Haris Vuckic 26’)

Tasmania got their championship off to a flying start with a convincing 4-1 win over South Australia in an end-to-end match at the AIS Arena.

Tasmanian skipper Andrew Clark fired the first salvo of the match having cleverly spun away from his marker and advanced on goal only to see his shot well blocked by Cameron Rogowski in the South Australian goal.

It was a minor reprieve for South Australia though and Tasmania hit the lead midway through the opening half with a finely taken goal. Joshua Quan was the scorer, breaking from deep to lash a shot past Rogowski and into the far corner of the net.

And they deservedly doubled their advantage minutes later as Clark forced his way into the area and bundled his way past Rogowski to leave himself with the simplest of tasks to tap the ball into the empty net and put his team 2-0 ahead at the interval.

South Australia gave themselves a glimmer of hope with the opening goal of the second stanza as Haris Vuckic struck on the counter-attack but Tasmania simply stepped up a gear and put the match out of reach of their opponents with a quick-fire brace.

Adam McKeown danced around a challenge to fire in the third and, just over a minute later, Eli Luttmer was on hand to make it 4-1 with a tidy strike from just outside the box. The sending off of Vuckic for a late tackle compounded a miserable start for South Australia.

Victoria 6 (Fernando De Moraes 7’, 29’, Jonathan Barrientos 8’, Adam Cooper 9’, Carlos Munoz 15’, Vadim Mazurskiy 25’ (pen)) South Australia 0
Victoria stormed to a 6-0 hammering of South Australia in the opening match of the Open Men’s competition on Day 2. It didn’t take long for Victoria to hit their stride as they ripped into South Australia from the outset showing a ruthlessness and technical prowess that their opponents simply could not match. The Victorians appeared a lot fresher than in their opening match and took firm command of the contest with a three-goal burst within the space of three first-half minutes. Fernando set the scene, dictating the pace early on, before scoring a sublime opener. That set the scene and when Jonathon Barrientos and Adam Cooper added to the Fernando strike Victoria was virtually home and dry by the nine minute mark. They still kept attacking though and the impressive Carlos Munoz swept home at the back post after another rapid-fire break to take the score to 4-0 at the interval. There was little let up in the second half as Victoria kept up the offensive. A handball in the area presented Vadim Mazurskiy with the chance to blast goal number 5 from the penalty spot before Fernando completed his brace with a cute flick from close range after good lead up work from Mirza Pedic.

Western Australia 5 (Daniel Micevski 7’, Ciro Celulari 9’, Andres Bouzinekis 11’, Luke Tidy 19’, David Micevski 37’) -- South Australia 0
Western Australia swamped South Australia 5-0 to keep up their steady progress towards the semi-finals. Western Australia took a while to get the measure of their opponents but when they did they struck three times in four minutes. Daniel Micevski opened the scoring in the 7th minute, much to the delight of the bench, and it was 2-0 only a couple of minutes later following a quite brilliant goal from Ciro Celulari. Celulari burst onto a flick from Diego Garcia at pace to race away and, under pressure, slot past the exposed Cameron Rogowski. Western Australia’s perfect start continued in the 11th minute as they broke at speed again to allow Andres Bouzinekis the opportunity to slide a finish into the corner of the net from in front of goal. And they made certain of the points by the half-time whistle as Luke Tidy blazed home after a ricochet fell kindly for him outside the penalty area. Haris Vuckic, returning from suspension, almost pulled one back for South Australia but, after cleverly beating his man with a dummy, saw his shot saved by Glen Sheldon. Not to be outdone by his brother Daniel, David Micevski notched his name onto the score card in the 37th minute to cap a wonderful display. Awarded a free kick outside the box, Micevski thrashed the ball home, at the second attempt to bring up five for Western Australia and condemn South Australia to another heavy defeat.

I feel sorry for the open men's team who were convinced to pay thousands to go to nationals without the knowledge required to compete at that level.. can't imagine the frustration as they realise how pointless the trip was.. :?

1000 pound white elephant in the room but no one will say it (I've said it before and I'll say it again, does this position get given to someone or do people apply for it and the best candidate is chosen). not to mention another member of the coaching staff admitting that the team they were taking over wasn't going to win but it would be good for experience. Not to sure if i would pay $1400 (last years figures) to get embarrassed nationally on the court for "experience'

surely Tony La Scala isn't the coach???

is there a panel or committee that selects the coach??
surely there are better options out there, people that know the technical aspects of this game?
is Tony the head coach for this 'Adelaide Force' futsal club that has suddenly appeared??
if so, where do they train? where do they play? have they had any success in any form of competition?

there are some very talented futsal players in SA, and also some very talented outdoor players that will perform well in 3 out of 5 games,
but surely to be competetive on a national level there must be some form of training/coaching that is specific to futsal.
Does Tony La Scala/Futsal SA hold training sessions during the season? is there a selection process or trials for this open mens team?

is there a list of players that were selected?,
I would hate to think we performed this badly just with poor coaching, especially with the quality of futsal players I have seen playing locally,
even in just the Campbelltown competition there are some great players, ie, Francis, Mitris, Frisina, Bucco, Capaldi, Noel, are any of these in the team?

I think Futsal in South Australia is never going to improve unless the organising body start getting serious about it,
it cant remain as just a cash raising source for a selected few, it needs to operate a bit more proffessionally if we are to get anywhere,

Futsal is a great game, and has a massive future in SA if it is guided by the right people,

yes, you would think so getyourheaddown,
but I dont think alot of the senior players knew what was happening, it all seemed to be done on the low down,
I checked the Futsal SA webiste, their facebook page, read their newsletters, and even tried 'twittering'!!!

NO communication from this lot it seems!!!
