Comets 7-a-side pitch conditions

Post by Ronnie »

You would think the money they charge teams to play out there, that the pitch conditions would be better. Firstly how hard is it to mow a pitch, half of them were like a paddock, all over the place. Secondly, how bad are the pit holes. I am coming back from a knee reconstruction (which was firstly suffered on a comets pitch), and re-jarred it tonight from all of the pot holes. If you are going to charge this much, lift your game Adelaide Comets. DISGRACE!!!!

Tommy: We've lost Gorgeous George.

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?

Has been better organised in the past. Looks like they got dicked about by a few teams this year though.

It's got to be tough organising this - kinda like herding cats.

Was last night the first round?
Pitch was a disgrace, hoping it was just the pitch I was on, ie. one of the outer ones, and the conditions are better on the more central pitches,

Does Comets ahve a web site like Athelstone do?

Pitch was terrible. I played on pitch 8. Grass was too long, far too many pot holes which really didn't suit a passing game. The ball didn't really roll to well and bobbled up on every pass.

Really needs to mowed for starters and although some holes were filled in it wasn't enough.

A shame for a well organized event.

The bobble was a shocker for sure and I saw at least one guy go down with a serious ankle injury during an 8pm on pitch 5 (outer pitch)

There was a tackle involved in that but the pitch definately didn't help and the guys ankle was a balloon within about 10 minutes

On the plus side ice packs were available which helped him out.

Also saw a few nice volleys - presumably due to the problems playing along the ground

Pitch is the only thing this comp is missing, they have the best referees, good lighting and an organised website.

Keep up the pressure on the council guys!

With the amount of $$$ that come in from the event, can they not get a few tonne of sandy loam and fill the holes themselves ?? :?

Also should put some high nets up where that barb wire fence is because every time it sails over one of your bench men have to go for a run to fetch it. Either that or have one of your co-ordinators on hand to fetch loose balls. Players are not made to do it in amateur league or state levels.

I'm still hobbling around after mine on pitch 1 on Monday.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

That's old age, nothing to do with the pitch

Pitch 2 wasn't bad, well not as bad as some of the others apparently......Some of the boys I was talking to after the game
played on #8 and weren't too happy.

i played on pitch 1 too, the ball bounced a lot, due to patches of sand making the ground uneven. Not the whole pitch but in parts and it was bloody annoying!
