Portugal V Spain 1-2
Uruguay V Egypt 2-0
Iran V Morocco 1-1
Time for some righteous indignation

I'm in the Messi camp regarding the BITW player but Ronaldo may have just overtaken him in my estimation. Hattrick and has scored at 4 WC's. Just absolutely brilliant.

I watched the earlier game Uruguay vs Egypt. Great game and pity Egypt lost at the end. To see Salah sitting on bench was shame.

A penalty, goalkeeper blunder and a well taken free kick...good tekkers for the hat-trick but it's like junior football where you have one lad who takes everything...

That's Ronaldo. Maybe why I'm in the Messi camp. More a team player. But no one can take his greatness away.

I watched the 1st game on my laptop streamed to my google play on TV. I am hearing Optus failed.

a little harsh on Ranaldo.....he didn't just take the penalty, he won it as well.....and you have to put the free kick in context.....in the 88th minute to salvage a draw....

and BTW....I don't know how I did it, but I live streamed Optus and watched the Uruguay V Egypt game for free....

Except that I don't Lie, it's just you fools have no idea what goes on in the Real World.

You take everything at face value and only believe what you see on the net or on 'reality' programs.

Your ability to look beyond the mundane is due to your over-reliance on 'smart phones' that dull your ability to think for yourselves and a lack of interpersonal experiences.

I have an inquiring mind that is always on the lookout for things outside of what you hear in the media and that's why my mate gives me access to his research and technology.

So disappointing a result. Well played. The VAR got the French 2nd goal correct by 10mm.

I thought Australia competed well and could have sneaked a draw against superior opponents. Was disgusted by some of the French diving time and time again and to me the referee could have been on to it early but once he let it go he was in a bit of a pickle from time to time. Fancied France to do well but on this showing they didn't look too convincing. A tad early to write anybody off as yet and as expected Australia's next game V Denmark on Thursday will be crunch time.

Why do Aussies always blame diving when they give away penalties?

12 years have passed and you still can't tackle

I don’t think anyone said the pen was a dive but every time the French left back got tackled he went down holding his head; soft coq

I don't think that made a difference to the result

Why do some people come on here assuming things:
1. I'm not an Aussie.
2. I never complained about the penalty being a dive.

Diving is a cancer in the game in general and if you can't see that you are an idiot as well as an ignoramus.

For the record as I happily work and live here (and actually enjoy being here) I think I am entitled to support Australia and am happy to do so. Come on Australia!

Diving is a cancer, that wasn't a dove though. Looked a clear penalty to me.

So you're not australian, but you support australia?

It wasn't an attempt at a sentence....just two modified phrases for dive and another for cheating.
I'll concentrate on my English for now....

I just finished watching SBS after match summary. That Craig Foster is a knob. We must have better analysists than him. SBS is a job for life once you get in.

Yeah I dont actually mind Foster but what he was saying about Australia showing the world the can beat anyone now is cringeworthy..... They lost!

And he couldnt make up his whether it was a penalty or not, kept contadicting himself.

The result was more respectable than i thought but disappointed in the end because I think Australia could have battled for a draw.

On first viewing it looked a pen and the Replay/ VAR just confirmed it.

Just saw the penalty miss by Peru. Player must have had inspiration from rugby penalty kick. At this level players should have the skills to get shot on target at least. A draw may have been a better result to Australia. We'll find out next game.

I hope Uruguay go far in the tournament. They won't win it, but they won't be a picnic to face either in the latter stages.

Australia played well and deserved something from the game. France were quite poor and it will be interesting to see Peru go at them. I liked Peru's performance against Denmark, but they lacked the final touch.

If Peru play the same way against France and Australia they will cause issues going forward.
