Losing to Rochdale was probably punishment enough
Especially when a home sell out v spurs was coming. Can't believe we didn't put out a proper team.
Might not be the same thing, but maybe this is what prompted it?

If it's acceptable for the national team to manage their squad as the manager sees fit, why is it the opposite when a league team does it?
When have I said that it was acceptable to do so?
Sure looks that way to me.
God is an Englishman wrote:....it shows they were playing to a similar game plan as England - it's just they failed.
Don't play semantics with me. In a two horse race, if you think Belgium's game plan failed, you must think England's game plan succeeded (since they were so similar), thereby endorsing the use of squad players.

I personally accept that all managers do just that, manage the resource at their disposal, and have no problem with it.

Just because I say a game plan succeeded (which I never said either) doesn't mean I say I agree with that game plan.

eg. The Yorkshire Rippers game plan to rape and murder 13 women succeeded. I don't agree with his actions though.

I agree. And as you are even older than me, you may know the answer to this. Before the so called professional foul straight red came in (1980?), wasn't a yellow always given?

I put 1980 as I remember the FA Cup Final, and Willie Young wasn't sent off when fouling a young Paul Allen and there was an outcry.
Yep.

New Name Not Needed, here’s the thing. Back in ye olde days all they got was a yellow. Then the penny dropped that wasn’t enough of a sanction. So they tried to go to the commonsense thing which was (as long it wasn’t violent) it was a penalty and a yellow if inside the box, a red card if it was a DOGSO outside the box seeing a lousy free-kick wasn’t enough punishment.

Since that somehow IFAB and everyone lost their way...

That said, I think the keeper was off his line before the Bacca penalty was kicked.

I couldn't believe the amount of diving and feigning injury....all the hallmarks reflecting a lack of manliness.....Colombia were also guilty of it......

England finally get it....

I wouldn't mind if England won it from here. Might at least cause a rethink about following a particular robotic style of play over here.

Malta has 5 letters, germany has 7, England has 7 and Colombia has 8. Those are all numbers and 1966 is also a number.

Same amount of digits, even number and the difference between 2018 and 1966 is 52 - the amount of playing cards in a deck which contains kings and queens - thus royalty - and England has - a queen!

They're a shoe in.

Not sure, but the 4th shot in the sequence, his front foot is forward but he still seems to have his left foot on or over the line and the ball is already on the way...

England V Brazil in the final (unless Belgium beat them)

Finally the "heads" at FA realise that you don't need a team of has-been to win the thing.

I feel sick saying this, but the World Cup is going back Engerland!

Anybody but Brazil, again!

I can't find the law written where it states both feet must remain on the goal line.

"The defending goalkeeper must remain on the goal line, facing the kicker, between the goalposts until the ball has been kicked."
