London Punter

Post by Mr Red »

A PUNTER still hasn’t cashed in a winning bet worth nearly $426,000 (£250,000) after a nine-fold accumulator at odds of more 2,700-to-one came in.

The sports fan, a man in his 50s from Harrow, north west London, placed a $160 (£90) bet on a massive long shot at a William Hill bookies on December 13 last year, The Sun reports.

He beat the odds of 2,710-to-one when Benfica won the Portuguese league title on Saturday to scoop a massive £243,858.

His nine-leg multi predominantly on European football bet on the overall winners of different leagues.

Joe Crilly, a spokesman for William Hill, has confirmed that the “punter had gone missing” and had not yet claimed a “betting windfall of £243,858.21”.

He said the man was in his 50s and had placed a “£90 nine-fold on December 13th 2016”.

He said: “There is nearly a quarter of a million sitting in this chap’s betting account but we have heard nothing from him.

“Imagine if he has forgotten about the bet he has placed – he will be set for quite the pleasant surprise.”

The lucky punter now has enough cash in his wallet to buy himself a Ferrari that wouldn’t look out of place on a footballer’s drive.

Even more impressive is how easy almost all of his bets came off.

Chelsea won the Premier League with games to spare and are seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham heading into the final day of matches on Sunday night (AEDT).

Newcastle celebrated promotion to the Premier League with weeks left in the season and held off Brighton to win the Championship on the final day.

Sheffield United won League One, a whopping 14 points clear of second-placed Bolton. Portsmouth won back into League One by pipping Plymouth by goal difference alone in League Two.

Lincoln City had secured the league before the last day of matches in the English fifth-tier National League.

In the Scottish League One, Livingston won the league by 19 points ahead of Alloa Athletic.

Arbroath took out the Scottish League Two by finishing two points clear of Forfar Athletic.

Benfica won Portugal’s top-tier Liga Nos, finishing five points clear of rivals Porto.

And Tom Brady’s New England Patriots smashed the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs to win the AFC and advance to the Super Bowl.

Last week, we reported how one brave Betfred punter has put a £6,000 wager on Jeremy Corbyn becoming Britain’s next Prime Minister at odds of 12/1.

The unnamed gambler, believed to be a man in his 20s, made three bets, backing Corbyn’s lacklustre Labour Party to the tune of £10,000 against all the polls.

Mystery punter’s nine-leg multi-bet win:

Chelsea to win Premiership — evens ($2)

Newcastle win Championship — 1/3 ($3)

Sheff Utd win Lge One — 11/8 ($2.38)

Portsmouth win Lge Two — 7/2 ($4.50)

Lincoln to win National Lge — 5/2 ($3.50)

Livingston win Scot Lge One — 4/7 ($1.55)

Arbroath win Scot League Two — 9/2 ($5.50)

Benfica win the Liga Nos — 4/7 ($1.55)

New Eng Patriots win AFC — evens ($2)

Hardly a big deal for a Londoner, doesn't need a new shed so doesn't bother collecting.

He should donate it to some northern shithole like Leeds or Blackpool and buy they whole town.

Great Idea but I've heard he wants to buy Millwall so he can use it as a retirement home for retired criminals.

Even if he got given the club, he'd be skint in 3 months balancing the books.
