Despicable Act (the Sun at it again)

Post by thebeautifulgame »

Sun columnist Kelvin MacKenzie has stirred it up with the city of Liverpool on the 28th Anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster with an article on Everton's Ross Barkley. He compares Barkley to a Gorilla (amongst other things) and also wrote that men with similar 'pay packets' to Barkley in Liverpool were drug dealers.
Alongside the article The Sun published adjoining pictures of Barkley and a Gorilla on their website with the caption 'could Everton's Ross Barkley represent the missing link between man and beast'?
Liverpool F.C. has banned any columnist from the Sun in to their ground since February (following the findings of the Hillsborough Disaster) and no doubt Everton will do the same with this latest debacle. Needless to say they don't (The Sun) get much respect (if any) in the city of Liverpool and this article will only add fuel to the fire.
Hope that they (the Law) deal with it appropriately. Free speech is fine to a certain point but IMO articles such as this are well beyond the limits. Please support the city of Liverpool and encourage ALL to boycott this low life newspaper.

P.S. On a cynical note they perhaps did it on purpose to get more exposure..........in Liverpool! They may get a little slap on the wrist and pay a little fine and still make a killing. Longer term though they will suffer.

I find it hard to believe that anyone buys The Sun for the alleged news content.

Sport results and thrupenny bits were the only things I ever looked at.

The only exposure they get in Liverpool is the campaign to ban the paper in the City!

True.

But it was still shit reporting.

MacKenzie does makes Miles Kemp look like and intellectual.

Everton have claimed it is because his father is apparently Nigerian and he referred to him as an ape.

He doesn't even remotely look African.

Would it be considered racist if Mark Fish was called a Monkey and he happened to be born in Capetown? or if Craig Johnston was called a chimpanzee because and he was born in Johannesburg??
