Price of Football: Full results 2016

Price of Football logo

The annual BBC Price of Football study is the biggest of its type in Europe, gathering season and matchday ticket prices from clubs across 23 leagues in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the continent.

The study also looks at how much UK clubs charge for pies, programmes, shirts, tea and away tickets.

This year we have analysed more than 1,000 ticket prices in six categories - cheapest and most expensive matchday ticket, cheapest away ticket and most expensive away ticket, and cheapest season ticket and most expensive season ticket.

Price of Football calculator: How much does it cost to follow your club?
How was the study compiled and how does the calculator work?

Plymouth Argyle were the only club out of 224 who declined to take part in the study.
Full results: Premier League 2016-17

The price of Pies should be investigated closely as some of them are too extravagant for words. OM

Don't like the price of pies, don't buy one. You're there for football, not for the food. Can't remember the last time I bought food at a game.

I bought a burger at Whitstable Town last year.

It cost £2.

It wasn't very good.

Marginally, though not up to local NPL standard and almost double the cost to get in.

Level 9 on the pyramid, compared to Level 2.

I learnt something new today, the old Kent League is no more.

Price of Football 2016: How much is League Two?

Carlisle fans
Carlisle have frozen or reduced all their ticket prices for the current season

The BBC's Price of Football study has analysed data from 223 clubs across Britain and Europe to find out how much it costs supporters to follow their team.

Three quarters of tickets in League Two have been frozen or reduced this season.

The average price of the cheapest matchday ticket is £18.70 while the average price of the most expensive is £22.87.

For season tickets, the average price in the cheapest category is £273.80 - up 5% on last year - and the average price of the most expensive season ticket has dropped by £5 to £385.03.
Cheapest season tickets in England
How cheap is your club?

Colchester have reduced their prices across all ticket categories following their relegation, but still have the most expensive matchday ticket on offer at £29.

Wycombe offer the cheapest matchday ticket at £15, while Blackpool, Cambridge, Crewe, Doncaster, Newport and

Stevenage have reduced their prices in this category.

Leyton Orient have put their prices up, but their £190 season ticket is still the cheapest in the league.

Morecambe's £519 season ticket is the most expensive in the league. Most fans opt to buy at the early-bird price of £219.

Wycombe offer the cheapest day out for £22.90. A day out is a matchday ticket, pie, tea and programme.

Where will you find the cheapest pie, tea, programme and shirt?

The lowest price you will pay for a pie in League Two is £2.50 - at Accrington, Blackpool, Leyton Orient and Stevenage. Morecambe's (award winning) pie is the most expensive at £3.50.

The cheapest cup of tea is £1 and can be found at Accrington, Colchester, Portsmouth and Stevenage. The most expensive, at £2.10, is sold at Doncaster.

All programme prices have stayed the same as last year, apart from Blackpool's which has been reduced to £2 (from £3) and is the joint cheapest along with Carlisle. Newport's is the most expensive at £3.50.

Crawley offer the cheapest shirts, pricing a junior one at £25 and adult at £35.

Barnet's shirts are the most expensive, costing £41.59 for a junior size and £49.90 for an adult.

League Two deals to shout about
Stevenage stickers

Stevenage give away free stickers in their matchday programme. There are 32 for fans to collect throughout the season including current players, club legends, management and club mascot. They all go on a wallchart provided by the club

Now there's an idea AU and some NPL clubs could take up. OM

Carlisle offer membership schemes specifically aimed at service workers, shift workers and fans with irregular work patterns

Portsmouth issue 10,000 free tickets every season to the local community
The older I get the better I was.

Why do you think I moved here?

Blackpool became a a massive slum during the Thatcher years, as the London based and Southern Biased, government dumped all the Southern Druggies & Deviants there, after destroying all the industry in the North.

Yes, because you see so many southerners up in Blackpool. Well outside of July/August when they might pop up because the ladies love the accent.

All Hail, Lady Thatcher.
Must admit that name (Thatcher) irks me. Can sympathise with Old Master here and believe me the further North you were the worse it got. Us Scots had to put up with her Barossa Pearl Poll Tax for a year before it was introduced to England where it was quickly rejected and then diluted version but still detested when the Community Tax took over. Not to mention the Falklands Conflict of 1982 (or War whichever you prefer) was manipulated by Thatcher to win the General Election- fact. Felt for those poor buggers out there(on both sides) fighting yet another war which could have been avoided. With more diplomatic skills and patience it could have all been sorted out. I knew a Scot/Brit who fought there and he said it was horrendous and needless. Watched a documentary on the subject that proved Thatcher deliberately undermanned the Falklands to encourage the Argentinians to claim sovereignty and rights to reclaiming the Islands. The General Belgrano was torpedoed by HMS Conquerer while making a U-turn following warnings that she would be torpedoed if she FAILED to turn. The General Belgrano was a Light Cruiser and constructed in 1951 (hardly a destroyer) and was torpedoed by the nuclear powered sub HMS Conqueror while it (Belgrano) was OUTSIDE the exclusion zone. Over 300 human lives were lost that day which accounted for almost half of the total deaths of Argentinians during the 74 day battle (649 lives in total). British deaths were 255 and 3 Islanders were also killed, in total 907 lives were lost so that Maggie and the Tories could win a landslide General Election in 1983.
Fact: Miles from Falkland Islands to Argentina- 945. Miles from Falkland Islands to U.K.- 8064. I will not reply to posts that are misguided or show bias as these are facts and are not manipulated.
P.S. To underline distance: Adelaide is closer to the Falkland Islands than the U.K. is to the Falkland Islands by over 1700 miles (or 2736 km). A warmonger in my book does not impress or inspire me in any shape or form.

The Falkland islanders recently had a referendum, 99% wanted to be a British territory. I like democracy. How's that fact? The Falklands are British and as such we were completely right to defend them.

I also thought the poll tax was a fantasting concept and should have stayed in place. The fairest way to decide who lays what. Why should a richer person pay more when you're using the same services?

And if I were a Falkland Islander (a native or a Brit or otherwise) I would also be with the 99% of them because of two simple facts:
1. Safer place for yourself and family and protected by UK Defence and Foreign Affairs.
2. About a quarter of the population are British (700 or so) and of the 1600 Falkland Islanders(natives) or so, the vast majority are of British descent. Why would they wish to abandon their heritage, tradition and culture?

All for Democracy and I am happy that the Islanders want to remain under British territory.
The definition to defend is to resist attack which is exactly what the Argentinians did. Once this occurred Thatcher's plan worked to perfection: 'bullying' a weaker opponent for political gain.

As for the poll tax it destroyed destitute and vulnerable people (including many families). It was never a fair tax and led to chaos, poverty and deprivation on a national level. The tax should have considered one's financial ability to pay and to scale it accordingly. We obviously have different beliefs so best to leave it at that.

Does a rich person use more of the services that council tax pays for? Should a rich person have to pay more at the supermarket for food because they can afford it? The rich are already paying more income tax, more VAT, more inheritance tax....

So, seeing as they want to be British then location is irrelevant and the British government were completely correct to defend their territory.

I thought it was a dumb idea and they should have just put up income tax and/or VAT, but I'm quite sure that if you were destitute and unemployed, you didn't pay it anyway.

Keeping the rates meant that my widowed grandmother on a piss poor pension paid the same as the all working family of five who lived next door. Sounds fair to me.
