Optus EPL Deal Details Emerge

Post by pernunz »

Basically you have to have a postpaid mobile, mobile broadband, or home broadband account.
EPL access will be free for those on plans costing $85 or more, otherwise you need to pay $15 per month.
Otherwise you need Fetch TV
Or there's a more expensive satellite option.

Optus banking on people changing their subscriptions
"While you'll need to be an Optus customer to get all the EPL action, Optus research shows that close to two in three (63 per cent) football fans, who are not already Optus customers, are out of contract for at least one of their fixed broadband or mobile services," Mr White said.
"We're confident that when these fans see our range of great value EPL-ready plans, they'll be convinced that now's the right time to switch. And for those not quite ready to make that extra commitment, we also have a great postpaid BYO mobile plan that will provide access to the EPL."

I don't think Optus will get the take up they are hoping for.

Yep the reaction online has been pretty poor.
This was the golden opportunity to create a sports style Netflix.

I get Cable with TLS at home. Not going to switch to Optus who only offer ADSL2+ in my area.

Current format, I reckon this will be a disaster for Optus. Low-subscriber levels, upped pirated streams.....PL won't like this and will can the deal.
Back on Fox after 1 year I think.

So the current setup is that we can select and watch any lo e games we choose via the red button on Foxtel.

What a massive downgrade.

Foxy has announced that the games of the big six - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, ManU, ManCity & Spurs will be shown on delay at 1pm Sundays. Those will be the games played overnight Saturday night (3pm in London).

Good luck with that. Replays where one knows the score aren't as exciting & tense as watching the game LIVE.

That means isolating from radio, Internet, text messages, phone calls, TV news etc so as to pretend you are watching it live.

Not that hard really especially bearing in mind the times that the games are shown. Go to bed, get up when game is shown (or record it). I do it all the time.

Yes, that too if nobody breaks the results . But what about those late pub nights when you're in a group watching an exciting game LIVE?

Just on that, God In't An Englishman: Do you know if pubs will pick up the Optus stuff? And what about your mate in that Eastern 'burbs pub - will their Foxy TV package pick up the Euro 2016 Championships for a month from 10 June?

I have no idea, in fact I also answered the question about pubs showing games. You would think if they can et the games then pubs will.

With the timings of Euros games then I'd be surprised if any eastern suburbs pubs bother applying for licences to show them. Ill be in Europe practicing my Grench speaking skills for most of them so don't really care anyway.

Can't stick to the issue, eh WAANKER? That is, Foxy TV not showing EPL games LIVE and Octopus with its hopelessly complicated pricing plans.

FFS, Choice has pointed out that a 24-month OPTUS Broadband Bundle will cost $2880, while NZ consumers can stream a whole EPL season for $91(!) AND use a phone or Internet provider of their choice.

Huh? Euro 2016 is on BeIN Sports, which will automatically be added to the sports pack in a few weeks. The new BeIN 1,2 and 3 will become 'normal' sports channels. No need for upgrading, applying for licences or anything like that.

Juventino, is that confirmed? Yes for we private subscribers, but do pubs, clubs & corporates get that in their expensive commercial packages?
