Parky thanks fans for £10,000 gesture

Gary Parkinson thanked Blackpool supporters and former players for their wonderful gesture as he collected a cheque for £10,000.
The former Seasiders coach, who was struck with Locked in Syndrome in 2010, met with members of the Blackpool Supporters Trust and his former coaching colleague Steve Thompson at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel yesterday to thank them for raising money to fund a new chair to enhance his independence.
The money was raised at a dinner staged by BST to commemorate Pool’s promotion to the Premier League five years ago.
Members of that promotion-winning squad, including Charlie Adam, Ian Evatt, Brett Ormerod, Keith Southern, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and David Vaughan joined more than 400 supporters on a memorable night.
Around £4,500 had been raised on the evening before former Pool skipper Adam took to the stage to announce that the assembled players would between them donate £5,500 to make up the £10,000 target.
Parkinson, 43, requires round-the-clock help as he battles the rare condition which followed a stroke he had while working as coach at Bloomfield Road.
What a pity the club's owners have turned their backs on him.
No wonder the Fans hate them so much. OM
