I hear a UAE club are keen, and obviously would be able to afford him.
He said a while ago that he didn't go to NYRBs for the money, and his next move would be about the money either. If he goes to the UAE I feel it would be about the money.

I would love him to come home to Millwall but I'm realistic, we can't afford him.

A mate spoke to him in Sydney a month ago and he said that he wouldn't go back to Millwall or Everton as he is loved there and wouldn't want to ruin that.

QPR sounds sort of feasible, much like Defoe returning and going to Sunderland.

Channel Nine reporting Everton as the likely target as well.

Give back to football , play in A-league for nominal salary?

I don't like saying how people should spend their money, but considering what he was apparently earning at NYRB he could just about finance a HAL club himself.

I recall a while back he was involved in a bid to get South Coast Wolves into the HAL. I wonder what happened with that.

Really hoped he could have joined an a-league team on a lesser salary. Cahill in the a-league would continue the momentum which Australian football gained from the Asian Cup. Can't argue with his decision, he probably wanted one last big pay cheque before he hangs up the boots.

Yeah for sure. But why say I want to give back to football? Just makes him sound like a phoney.
Cahill coming back to the HAL would have been huge for the league. If he stuck around for a few seasons it IMO would have given the game a huge boost giving things like FTA a bigger chance of happening.

It's not his job to help australian football. He wants to give back, English football has given him more than australian football.

He has talks with Real Sociedad, Everton and Shanghai. Disappointed that Millwall weren't one of the clubs mentioned especially as one of his mates is on our coaching staff but in realistic terms only Melbourne City could afford him in the A League and Millwall couldn't even afford to pay for his flights
