An offensive act will put you in front in a game, however a defensive act may be required to keep you there....both combined is how games are won.
The game is exactly that...the full 90+ minutes.
You can actually win games with a defensive act...defender miskicks a clearance or passes back incorrectly and scores an own goal...team wins by the single own goal.

anyway...that's how I see it....I know youre a keeper and might be sensitive but I never suggested that keepers don't have an offensive role to play in the game...

a keeper can make 100 saves to keep the score at 0-0 and yet haven't contributed to a win. keeper saves and defensive action only maintain the status quo (unless in the rare situations it leads to an own goal)
