Fleetwood Town ace a World Record holder

Nathan Pond by Rob Stocks rob.stocks@blackpoolgazette.co.uk

Fleetwood Town’s Nathan Pond will appear in the Guiness Book of World Records following his landmark appearance last weekend against Crewe Alexandra.

Pond was Fleetwood’s captain in their opening day 2-1 win over the Railwaymen.

His starting place in Graham Alexander’s team meant he had appeared in seven different divisions of English football for the same club - a feat which has earned him his place in the record books.

Pond’s achievement has been confirmed on the Guiness Book of Records website, the team behind the legendary book having been alerted by Town supporters over the summmer.

Full interview with Nathan Pond and Graham Alexander plus Notts County v Fleetwood Town preview in Friday’s Gazette.
