Regional Leagues
What's everyone's thoughts on regional European leagues?
I know they've been talking about a Balkan league for a while now.
Could be a good move to allow strong teams from smaller countries to play other strong clubs from small countries every week.

Re: Regional Leagues
Always thought a Scandinavian league would go well. I think they have a celtic league for Wales, Scotland & Ireland for rugby union, worth having a look to see how that's going. Like you say would give a better comp by combining the small amount of strong clubs in these regions. As long as it's voluntary for each FA it could be good . UEFA wouldn't like it though.wizard wrote:What's everyone's thoughts on regional European leagues?

Re: Regional Leagues
UEFA have to be careful that the big European clubs don't try and form their own league anyway.
It would strengthen the UEFA tournaments as well, and those clubs from regional comps would be able to compete for bigger sponsors and therefore better players.

Re: Regional Leagues
I heard talk a while back of the UCL being expanded into a proper league with weekend fixtures. There was also talk further back of an Atlantic league. I think it was between the British clubs (expect EPL) Belgium, Netherlands and Scandinavia.
That would be good IMO.

Re: Regional Leagues
As long as it doesn't detract from the English leagues, I couldn't care less if that's what lesser countries decide to do.

To mis-quote Monty Python: " Don't mention the English National Side".
