Chile v Socceroos

Post by Stuckey »

Reports coming out that Vidal will be out of the clash with the Socceroos. We only need another 12-15 more injuries and we're in with a chance :D

The closer it gets the more optimistic I feel about our chances on Saturday morning, hopefully it isn't false hope!!

Arturo Vidal fit and will most likely play.

Chile are a chance to qualify for the next round... If the socceroos snag a result it will be HUGE

But i am the cocked eyed optemist

I really think we have a chance of beating Chile if we get a good referee.

After the first half against Croatia where we played some pretty good football, and the Croatian's efforts against Brasil, I think we have the players to spring a massive surprise to the rest of the world and shake the Dutch and the Spaniards into at least taking us seriously now. :D

I've been feeling pessimistic for months, worried that we'd lose all 3 games without scoring a goal ..... but .....
.... tonight I've just got a feeling that we can get a result out of tomorrow's game .... maybe even a win.

Still, if you offered me a point now, I'd take it.
That would keep us alive in the group.

Unlucky. We played a good team but we certainly didn't shame ourselves. We had a few good chances to level it up. Proud of the guys!

The offside goal was very marginal and what a save from Bresciano's strike oh well

Ref was a bit frustrating but the South Americans were always going to be looked after, much like Brazil v Croatia.

Put simply, if Oz werent so sloppy defensively in the first 25 minutes or so, they could have got something from the game.

Can't see us troubling Spain or Netherlands in a fit

As for Netherlands v Spain............ Wow!

question......

has Timmy now scored at 3 consecutive world cups???if so, that would surely put him in elite company

Spain have now conceded 9 goals in their last two official games on Brazilian soil

honourable loss. Why didn't we put more crosses in? Did we give them too much respect early, dropping off too much, not pressing them high enough.
first 25 of the second half we pushed on and they couldn't create. best period of the game for socceroos.

2 poor minutes proved costly for us. Very unlucky not to come away with a point. Great 2nd half by the boys. Leckie was brilliant

+1.

At least we had a go second half and deserved an equaliser. I thought Oar was a bit disappointing, not even clearing the first defender with his free-kick in the 1st half when we had all our big boys up and waiting.

Davidson was fantastic at left-back, reminding me of his father Alan's great performances for the Socceroos in the old days.

Leckie was great too the way he kept running, taking them on and getting the ball in to Cahill and others.

After watching the pace of rvp and robben cutting apart Spain I think that ange will play taggart ahead of Cahill in game 3...

He could always shift Cahill deeper and bresh deeper and swap out Milligan...

Thoughts?

After the Croatia v Brazil game the officials said the penalty for Brazil was justified because all teams were notified that any defender who man handles the attacker will be punished.
What then Mr FIFA official happened to the incident with Cahill?
The Chilean defender needs a manicure to remove Cahills shirt from under his finger nails!
Why must the cheating be so obvious?
Is it just coincidence that the first 2 dubious decisions have heavily favoured the South American teams?

Surely you are not serious about Cahill being benched for Taggart??

Ange and the players have done everything they can and made a game of it. We obviously just don't have the quality. I think some of the lads have promising careers. But we are just not producing enough top players.

It's a shame because if you had a couple more top class players in this squad, with this coach, we could do really well.

Looking forward to Holland game. Nothing to lose!

Halloran might be a good option, Wow Spain's defence looked so slow united fans would have been happy as Spain were completely out coached

Does this now mean the Dutch system of 4-3-3 now trumps the tika-taka Spanish system again? Forget Gombau, AU, bring back Rini.

Are you lot being serious about the ref being frustrating? Didn't do much wrong.

Chillaaaay (what the shiraz is that all about) were far better team in first half, convicts better in second. 2-1 would have been fair, cons did better than I expected.

A side note, those Australian commentators are very funny. Have they seen a game before?
