Nations we want to see do well in Brazil

Post by Stuckey »

So besides Australia or the country of your heritage which nations do you have a soft spot for and you would like to see progress?

Personally I'd like to see Mexico due to their youth development program they put in place, Japan due to the structure of their J-league squads holding on to their nation's best and brightest talent (something I'm very keen to see the HAL adopt) and Germany because the way they have structured the Bundesliga means their clubs must grow slowly but surely investing in youth and not allowing clubs to go out and just buy the best talent if they can't afford it. Germany is also my pick to win it.

So basically youth development is the reason I'm pick my sides.

Uruguay (they can finish behind Italy) because I like their team and style.

Chile because of Vidal.

The Swiss too - don't mind watching them play either, and Lichtsteiner.

Australia first obviously! But realistically it could suddenly be all over if we lose to Chile and the Netherlands & Spain games are dead rubbers.

Then England to do well and go deep into the tournament, so the profile of the game here stays high, what with the anglophile mainstream media here likely to jump off the World Cup bandwagon if England go out.

And I hope nations with large supporter bases here with Australians of Croatian, Italian & Greek heritages go deep into the tournament. They add colour and game profile here with their enthusiastic support.

Bottle of merlot hell, read subject title "Nations (plural) we want to see do well..."

Australia, England, Croatia, Greece, Italy for reasons given in the (Fri May 30, 2014 4.59pm) post above.

I agree with Hawkesy, surely you would want your own country to do well and no-one else.

I read the title and I don't care about any other country apart from my own.

Yes, read again above. Australia first obviously! Then those others mentioned (for reasons given above) to go deep into the tournament, which will help keep soccer-football's profile high in this country where it is not the number one sport.

Yes, Marryatville Primary & Norwood High.

What's that got to do with me wishing that Australia, your England and the other countries I mentioned, go deep into the tournament so the profile of the game stays high in this country where soccer-football is not the number one sport?

I was just wondering which nation we have to blame for your inability to read.

Hilarious. Another thread you claim to have zero interest about but then become the highest poster in the thread.

Maybe read my post that asks who you are interested in.
I'm not saying buy a scarf and cheer them on. Just if two sides are playing who would you rather win.
Sorry that question was too much for you.

Sadly modern football fans aren't two bob. We're the only ones that can afford to go to games.
