Says the bloke who offered 1000/1 that Arsenal would finish higher on the ladder........
And yet he assumes that he is the one that makes other people look stupid??

I ring my bookie when making a bet, no immediate exchange of funds required. We square up end of each month. Thats why I only need $4,995 thanks. You still have two days.

All of them do, it's called credit-betting.
We (non-high rollers) settle cash at time of bet because that's what the terms and conditions say and they're accepted when cash changes hands.

However, in this instance, in the absence of specified terms and conditions we cannot conclude that the consideration for the bet was to be settled in cash ahead of the event.

So anytime you're ready I'll have a couple of business class flights to Europe please.
Thanks!

ESPN (and Grantland's) football writing is very very underrated and much improved than the written-by-a-12year-old-style match reports espnsoccernet used to do years ago.

If I can digress from the Arsenal/Liverpool bickering and stay on topic:

A good read. We're a product of our environment and have differing ideas of acceptable behaviour, but underneath, we're all the same.

I wonder how much they pay refereees in Uruguay?
